. Measure and evaluate the gas permeation properties of the fabricated
films.
Product Development Engineer, American Ingenuity, Houston, TX (January 2014
- December 2015)
. Established a laboratory for the testing and manufacturing of
proprietary E-liquid

. Developed an extraction process to extract the flavors from tobacco
leaves and coffee beans
. Developed a system for the large scale production of E-liquid for
commercial purposes
. Hired and trained marketing personnel for the promotion of the new
product
Metallurgy Scientist, Tetra Technologies, Woodlands, TX, (May 07 -
September 07)
. Appointed as head metallurgy coordinator and researcher for the SCC
(Stress Corrosion Cracking) project.
. Designed and developed a new optimized system for the testing of metal
alloy integrity to corrosive conditions. New design increased
measurement accuracy by 40%.
. Modeled new system using Daisy Lab to ensure measurements properly
correlate to material responses to various environments.
RESEARCH EXPERIENCE
Graduate Research Assistant, Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, VA, (Spring 2008-
January 2014)
. Built a membrane separation pilot plant that determines both single
and mixed gas permeation and measures transient transport regions for
solubility and diffusivity determination.
. Modeled and automated permeation pilot plant components by integrating
several process control instrumentation with LabView software.
. Developed and characterized a two-phase liquid crystal/polymer system
(polymer dispersed liquid crystal membranes, PDLCM) for paraffin and
olefin separations.
. Synthesized and characterized novel "comb-like" co-polymer acrylate
liquid crystals that are easily varied for specific gas transport
applications.
. Fabricated membranes using linear polymer liquid crystal material that
lead to the realization of deviation from conventional liquid crystal
gas separation.
. Prepared polymer liquid crystals via radical addition of LC thiols
onto double bonds of diols and thermally characterized the polymers
that included a time-temperature superposition of their thermally
dependent rheological properties.
. Fabricated and characterized chiral liquid crystals membranes, which
lead to the development of an enantiomeric selective membrane using
chiral liquid crystals.
. Fabricated the first cross-linked liquid crystal polyacrylate membrane
where all other research resorted to linear polymers.
. Discovered a dual gas permeation mechanism for liquid crystal
polymers.
. Purified, cut, functionalized CNTs and tested their single gas
sorption and permeation, which lead to the development of oriented CNT
membranes.
. Lead a team of undergraduate researchers to investigate the fluid
dynamic fundamentals of polymer extrusion processes.
. Used solid-phase peptide synthesis to functionalize aluminum oxide
surfaces.
. Managed a team of undergraduate researchers to study enantiomeric
selectivity using an aluminum oxide membrane with covalently bonded
peptide sequences.
. Managed several teams of undergraduate researchers to assist with
membrane fabrication and gas transport projects.
. Instructed Unit Operations lab courses for 7 summers.
. Frequent substitute lecturer for Fluid Dynamics. Teaching assistant
for Kinetics, Heat Transport and Fluid Dynamics courses.
