C. Assist Farmer Hog Raiser at their individual Farm
Assist Farmer in farm administration, management and Animal health program at the project site. Specifically, I perform the following duties and responsibilities:
1.Assits in handling farrowing operations (sows, piglets)
Ensures the unit’s biosecurity protocol is followed by the Farmers
responsible of ensuring the comfort of the sow and piglets
ensures that proper routine procedures with new birthed piglets (castration, clip tails and teeth, iron shots) are carried out
Recognize farrowing- related problems and provide basic assistance
administer vaccines and givemedications, like, antibiotics for sows, supplementations and antibiotics for piglets;
attends sick animals: diagnose disease, prescribe medication and treat patients
supervise feeding, cleaning and disinfection;
ensure that feeding routine for farrowing pigsis carried out
assist farm hand in heat detection and breeding (natural and sometimes avail of processed semen depending on availability of breed);
assists Farmer in maintaining sow records and keeping production records. Record all the farm activities from transfer to harvest. Consolidate sow records and consolidate farm efficiencies.
2.assists in growing-finishing operations
Ensure proper handling and comfort of pigs
supervise feeding and watering routine for finishing pigs are carried out
Recognize and treat common diseases and disorders of finishing pigs
handle and administer medications and vaccines
Ensure the Unit’s biosecurity protocol is followed by all Farmers.
3.Assists in handling breeding operations
Ensure proper handling of breeding stock
Carry out breeding program to ensure production targets are met, which include Artificial Insemination.
Identify sows/gilts in heat and cycling for optimum breeding results
Pregnancy checking.
Supervise Farmers Recipient/check feeding routine for sows and boars
Supervise Farmers Recipients routine maintenance on water drinkers for animals

Growing/Finishing

Recognize and treat common diseases and disorders of finishing pigs
Provide water and perform routine maintenance on water drinkers

Monitor and maintain proper ventilation
Ensure accurate records are kept and submitted in a timely fashion to the Manager (weekly summary {pig movement}, weekly mortality and market load sheets)
Breeding
