My current role in Atkins involves supporting range of transportation planning and traffic engineering tasks focusing on analysis, research, planning, traffic and junction operations, and investigation of existing conditions, signalised junction design and ITS design works. With experience in dealing with local government entities in different levels and cross departments, I have been a key asset in being able to successfully navigate the projects I have been involved in. I joined our Atkins’ global focus on Intelligent Mobility and Mobility as a Service, this has been part of my key involvements in local IM projects and the input into the wider IM Value Propositions and IM initiatives. Relevant Projects:

Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Initiative, Dubai, UAE: This project for Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is to advise and create all the requirements to fully implement Electric Vehicles in Dubai. I am a leading member of the project team and responsible for the creation of key documentation, including a global literacy review of current initiatives, trends, enablers and blockers; review and creation of localised standards for electric vehicles and related infrastructure; legislation changes; strategic planning of the location of charging points; deployment manuals for the specific way to locate, specify and design a new EV charging points.

Tram Operation of Network Performance, Dubai, UAE: Our team was directly awarded the project operationally manages the signalised junctions that interface with the Dubai tram. The project ensures the safe operation of the interaction between the Tram, Vehicles and pedestrians. My role was to ensure the day to day operations ran smoothly, including the creation and submission of monthly reports and presentations, attending client meetings, undertaking on-site investigations into alleged systems issues, liaising with our engineers to capture any on-site information or suggested improvement works and converting into a format that would be understood by the client. Dubai Creek Harbour (DCH), Dubai, UAE: Transport planner and lead designer responsible for developing a concept design for the multi-modal internal transit system integrated with all available modes of transport to ensure an end to end journey within the area, review of the final concept design and relevant design layouts and documents, review the existing internal transport system and suggest modifications to land use in order to improve the efficiency of transportation facilities. Dubai Airports (DA) Airside Bus Operations, Dubai, UAE: Lead designer on the implementation of ITS solutions to increase safety on the reversing of passenger busses at Dubai International Airport. Creating concept and detailed design with innovative use of ITS equipment in a new environment. A first for this type. Introducing Car Parking Charging, Dubai: Project Manager for the requirement of introducing paid car parking at the client’s multi-use development. Creation of mitigation reports and required design changes to meet the demands of the car parking and to ensure no disruption to the existing road network. Obtaining a No Objection Certificate from the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) for construction.

Validation of Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) SCOOT Junctions, Dubai, UAE: Site surveys, relocation of vehicle detections, SCOOT Design, assisting in the validation exercise to improve the efficiency of SCOOT operation within the city of Dubai, participating in client meetings and contribution in technical meetings. The project improved journey times by 19% on the area’s included in the works, these were heavily congested areas and areas with a large tourist attraction. This also led to a reduction in carbon emissions of 14%. Dubai Festival City (DFC) Improvement of Traffic Signal Operations, Dubai, UAE: Transport planner responsible for Investigation and analysis of existing conditions of junctions including safety issues and CAD drawing preparation of proposed changes, SCOOT Design, on-site validation, ensuring the effective performance of engineering solutions applied

(i.e. fixing and application of microwave vehicle detection, upgraded junction facilities, etc.) and sub-contractor management with respect to client liaison.

Jebel Ali Port Transportation Master Plan, Dubai, UAE: Transport planner supporting the team by doing design reviews, planning input to analysis of existing and future conditions, investigating traffic operations, analysis of multiple proposed scenarios and 3D visualizations of the proposals.

Riyadh Metro, Riyadh, KSA: Team member assisted to create and update data sheets of timelines and deadlines as well as controlling and monitoring the progress of every task according to the agreed dates. This involved constant liaising with the delivery team across multiple offices.

Southern Sub-Region Master Plan, Kuwait: Team member assisted in creating CAD drawings of the Master Plan with focus on calculations of areas and measurement of proposed islands, provide planning solutions for sustainable use of land for proposed Master Plan Design.
