Job Description:
•Assesses neurosurgical patients in their pre-operative and post-operative phase.
•Formulates nursing care plan to patients according to their individual needs
•Identifies needs and problems through clinical observation, interaction and physical assessment.
•Provides hygiene, physical comforts and measures to patients.
•Assures proper intake, nutrition, fluid and electrolytes of patients.
•Institutes measures for the maintenance of proper urinary and blood functions.
•Ensures a safe and clean environment.
•Participates in the education and rehabilitation of patient as well as in the promotion of mental health.
•Assists in meeting the patient’s spiritual needs
•Evaluates and records effectiveness of nursing care in relation to goals.
•Carries out and administers medication, treatment and procedures then notes any untoward reactions.
•Assist the physician in the treatment or in administering highly specialized therapy in performing procedure.
•Records and immediately relays pertinent findings to the physician regarding patient’s condition
•Makes written and verbal reports to the head nurse/ supervisor of any significant incidents which happened in the unit within 24 hours. Documents problems identified (objective), time identified, nursing interventions given and evaluation.
•Takes and records patient’s vital signs.
•Transcribes doctor’s orders carried out, medications and treatment given on the patient’s charts
•Willingly participates in the general activities of the nursing service; such as meetings, seminars, conferences, researches and training.
•Implements the nursing service quality plan, procedure and work instructions.
•Takes care of the proper use of supplies and equipment and maintains the accuracy of the stock/equipment inventories through effective endorsement.
•Performs other duties and functions as assigned.
