High-Performance Materials Institute Florida State University – Tallahassee, Florida Research Assistant 01/2011 – 08/2016

Established laser manufacturing procedures to produce graphene nanoribbons, carbon fibers, ultrathin carbon films, and vacuum electronic devices.

o Led the design of experiences and the statistical process control to determine and control the critical manufacturing factors to optimize the product qualities. o Developed the Matlab software to automatically execute the quality analysis for the raw materials and the processed materials by extracting the information from the testing results, analyzing the extracted data, and generating the analysis reports.

o Created the Matlab simulation model and the Matlab image processing model for the quality control. o Built the LabVIEW control systems to evaluate the performance of the vacuum electronic devices.

Performed QA/QC for the manufacturing processes of composites and nanocarbon papers. o Performed hands-on inspection and statistical analysis to examine the product quality and uniformity. o Conducted failure-mode tests and root-cause analysis to detect the failed products and the non-conformances to troubleshoot the manufacturing problems and improve the product qualities.

Developed a scalable method to produce transparent multifunctional thin films. o Effectively aligned carbon nanotubes (less than 20 nm in diameter) in low-density self-supporting sheets. o Successfully produced multifunctional ultrathin films (100 nm thick). Scientific Equipment Manager 09/2012 – 08/2016

Administered SEM (JEOL 7401F), laser cutter (Universal Laser Systems VLS2.30), plasma sputter coater

(Polaron SC7640), and plasma cleaning system (UVFAB Systems CUTE-MPR). o Provided training on principles and operation of equipment for multidisciplinary engineers and scientists. o Conducted preventive maintenance activities and equipment problem troubleshooting. o Performed technical support on experiment setup and data analysis for equipment users. Teaching Assistant 09/2014 – 12/2015

Participated in teaching classes of “Engineering Metallurgy and Manufacturing Processes” and “Micro/ Nanostructured Materials Imaging Methodology”.

o Developed teaching skills and ability to explain the principles of materials engineering, manufacturing processes, and materials analysis technologies.

o Designed and graded weekly assignments, laboratory sections, and exams. Hai H. Van 714-***-**** *****@**.***.***

SplendID Technology, JSC – Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam 06/2009 – 11/2010 Project Engineer

Contributed to the project development of the logistics radio-frequency identification systems. o Established the systematic designs for different logistics applications. o Created application systems by developing the prototypes and creating test plans. o Collaborated with multidisciplinary teams to demonstrate applications to customers.

Created the technical papers and the marketing portfolios. Altera Corporation Vietnam Technology Center – Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam 01/2008 – 05/2009 Product Engineer

Self-initiated an international collaborative project to develop data communication electronic systems. o Successfully established the functional specifications and the product prototypes for customers. o Developed a new test plan including testing procedures, designs for testing, C-model reference data, prototype testing, and testing scripts to control the product quality. o Maintained the compatible integration of the new product to the company system. o Conducted weekly and monthly reports for the project development management.

Committed to the continuous improvement for the current product to achieve the reliable operations. o Updated new test cases for the weekly regression tests to detect the hidden functional errors. o Debugged the product in response to the test results and the customer requests.

Performed technical support for testing engineers and customers. EDUCATION
