Metals Purchasing Manager (2013 – Present)

Manage metal and accessory suppliers for multiple metal plants with an annual spend of over $200 million, with achieving multi-million dollar cost reductions and savings in a market that is usually unfavorable. Develop the technology roadmap, Support new product introduction, Drive cost reduction (ID new vendors, materials, processes, etc). Conduct supplier pricing analysis, lead benchmarking and negotiation for major raw materials, responsible for raw material budgeting and forecasting, Interface with supply chain/demand planning, Purchase the Industrial Products hot roll material, Interface with Nashville purchasing – cost improvement plans, etc. Run Winshuttle mass SAP contracts/PO changes for all users. Global Sourcing Manager (2011 – 2012)

Develop and implement commodity sourcing strategies for major Hoses and Tubes, managing the responsibilities and contracts for over 60 suppliers with an annual spend of $100 million, leads cross-functional teams to consensus on major sourcing strategy positions or changes for world-wide supply, works closely with Cummins Joint Venture purchasing Leads and regional IPO Leads to evolve Low-cost country strategy on designated commodity or commodities, leads cross-functional sourcing activities with Engineering, Business Units, Finance, and Joint Ventures. Drive total cost of ownership reductions across the entire supply chain in managing cost-out opportunities, identify, plan and implement continuous improvement opportunities within the supply chain to achieve best practices and maintain a worldwide supply base of competitive and innovative companies. Foster and develop a "Suppliers as Partners" philosophy to select, develop and manage suppliers with being a primary contact in resolving long-term issues that the plants have with suppliers, primary contact for supplier negotiations and contracts, responsible for diversity and minority supplier development in the supply base. Develop "Commodity Teams" throughout the supply chain, co-ordinating the linkage between the supplier and the plant in driving improvements in materials, facilitate the plants in identifying and setting AOP objectives in driving improvements in materials. Facilitate and encourage the growth and use of Six Sigma with critical suppliers including joint projects as appropriate, provide leadership to the plants and the supply base in helping them to continuously improve and optimize their capabilities.

2008-2011 Allison Transmission Indianapolis, IN

Global Commodities Manager (2008 – 2011)

Managing the responsibilities and contracts for over 60 suppliers and an annual spend of $80 million with several commodity parts (i.e. valves, bearings, pins, remanufacturing of transmissions, pumps and pump parts, tubing, breathers and dipsticks.) Working closely with planners, engineers and supplier quality to ensure that timing and deliverables for all products that are being changed by supplier process changes or moves (e.g. PPAPS, Control Plans, APQP) along with negotiating pricing and T&C’s. Fix the high risk issues as price increases or troubled suppliers, so costs are reduced or eliminated from the risk of shutting down production. Develop strategies, identify and access new leverage points for cost reduction and improved services for all of my suppliers (e.g. e-RFI, e-RFQ, e-Auctions). Negotiated $23M 5 yr Long Term Supply Agreement w/2% cost reductions for the first two years. Negotiated $10M 5 yr Long Term Supply Agreement from 5% increase down to 1% by VA/VE opportunities to help reduce costs. Saved over $3M annually by finding like parts that have different costs. Negotiated $3M annual cost reductions and $4M cost sharing over a 12-month period through value-engineering, low cost country sourcing, contract negotiations and Six Sigma methodologies.

1990-2008 Dow AgroSciences Indianapolis, IN

Global Raw Materials Buyer (2005 – 2008)

Being promoted to buyer within two years time has given me the opportunity to negotiate (e.g. pricing, delivery, and terms) and source globally existing raw materials and new formulations. Having the responsibilities for managing 300 raw materials with an annual value of $50 million, which has lead the effort to eliminate single sourced suppliers when needed. Utilize available e-procurement tools (e.g. e-RFI, e-RFQ, e-Auctions) to the fullest capability, by leading the effort, improving efficiency and effectiveness of the Purchasing process while sourcing existing and new product formulations. Conducting market/industry/product research to assist the Supply Managers is a team effort in developing Product Procurement Strategies and tactical plans. The Six Sigma Greenbelt certification was for reducing the number of warehouses and inventory by 30% as a result of saving multi-millions of dollars on transportation, overhead, warehouse leasing and inventory.

Purchasing Specialist (2003-2005)

Created and managed SAP contracts for raw materials in accordance with commercial agreements. Mentored and lead the day-to-day procurement activities for the team (purchasing and payables). Coordinated material specification approval/supplier sign-off and the supplier self-assessment process for the Purchasing function. Handled spot orders within delegation of authority to commit. When a chemical supplier went out of business suddenly, was able to work with the supplier before they stopped production to obtain as much material from them as possible. Worked with a team to find another supplier before the plant shut down production.

Maintenance Buyer (1993-2003)

Was Accountable for a $3 million operations budget. Responsibilities were making all purchases for maintenance and operations department. Provided Maximo Computer software support for work orders, preventative maintenance schedules and inventory stocks. Communicates with outside vendors, contractors and inside customers on a day-to-day basis. Generated purchase orders from Maximo to order parts for various jobs with procurement card and purchase order numbers. Negotiated and Managed service contracts (i.e. elevators, roofs and HVAC). Saved $30,540 on light guards for the greenhouses, this was achieved by doing cost comparisons with vendors and allowing them to bid against each other. By looking into consolidating of stockrooms resulted in a cost savings of $17,000.

Maintenance (1990-1993)

Responsible for coordinating workload for any contractor working with building maintenance that provided basic carpentry, electrical and the ability to assemble equipment and furniture. Replaced lighting in all company owned equipment and furniture. Delivered and moved file cabinets, desks, general office equipment and furniture.
