Recognized Research Projects and Presentations
I researched and described a correlation between sunspots with both earthquake frequency and global climate changes. The project was highly commended by the Professor.
EXPERIENCE
September 2013 - June 2014 - Environmental Systems Internship and Project, UCSD, Scripps Institute of Oceanography (SIO) La Jolla, CA
A sediment core from the Indian Ocean was obtained by a group of scientists for analysis at Scripps Institution of Oceanography where I assisted in the execution of the research project. I performed the following:
Examined sediment samples under a microscope
Selected foraminifera species and separated them onto slides
Ran samples in a mass spectrometer
Prepared and analyzed the resultant data
Collaborated with a team of paleoclimatologists and oceanographers in interpreting the results
Prepared a comprehensive research report on results of mass spectrometer and paleoclimatology in general
I prepared a visual and verbal presentation which revealed the recent glacial-interglacial cycles the Earth has gone through in this region of the Indian Ocean
COMPUTER SKILLS
Experience with: Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; R Studio Statistical Software
Additional
I have recorded weather readings in a log to monitor weather trends and develop my own forecasts using a solar powered weather station and data from the National Climatic Data Center. For the past ten years I have learned a great deal through many mediums the past, present, and future of the Earth’s climate systems/processes, much via my own work and research.
