Research and development on cementatious composites. Formulation development (patented), testing and implementation, Product development and implementation, Investigative analysis (failure analysis), Test method development and implementation, Project management (planning and execution)
.Reformulated the entire HardiePlank line of products to improve durability and reduce the cost by reducing and replacing one important component by another. Work involved lab scale sample preparation, testing as well as plant trials and designing and running durability framework. This project resulted in me getting my first patent.
.Launched a new product ProGrid backer that is the 3rd generation of backer in our current backer line. It involved running a cross-functional team with testing, marketing, sales and manufacturing. I conceived and implemented a system to add color to our product line where I identified a line of pigments that will work with fiber cement, hired a vendor and with the help of manufacturing designed and built a system to add pigment to the mix.
.During my tenure in competitive intelligence, I worked on three major competitors studying them and identifying Hardie’s strengths over them. I used Thomson Innovation IP search engine to track patents and IP filed. Also designed and implemented plant tours for major customers and suppliers.
.Long-term product performance (durability), designing and testing durability framework for both interior and exterior product line and failure analysis on claims cases.
