Misty Dieffenbach, MBA, PHR

Mentor, Motivator, Change Agent & Talent Strategist 208-***-****

About Me:

I have a grassroots passion for people, I’m fiercely resourceful, I’m a cultivator of relationships and I value serving the greater good. I foster work environments where innovation and risk taking are “the norm” and where challenges are seen as a venture to further build skills, relationships and trust. I am able to effectively mesh my soft skills and my smarts to help an organization thrive. People trust my presence and respect my role in decision making. I’m quick on my feet, I adapt well to change and love turning problems into ideas that yield tangible results. I’m a straight shooter, a thoughtful diplomat, and know how to make others feel valued.

South Kitsap School District 2014-Current

Assistant Superintendent/Executive Director of Human Resources

The District is home to 10,000 students and approximately 1,300 employees. South Kitsap is a collaborative, enthusiastic and child centered district with a focus on innovation and sound instructional strategies. I serve on the Superintendent’s executive cabinet as the Human Resource expert.

In my time here, I’ve negotiated contracts with collective bargaining groups. I’ve made alliances and found common ground while navigating through conflict. I’ve dealt with the hard stuff, but have managed to remember to be soft when needed. Through my character and competence, I have restored a culture of high trust between classroom teachers, classified staff, and the District office.

We’ve experienced significant growth and as a result have been recruiting and hiring upwards of 85 employees each year. Outreach with universities, commitment to continuing education for our staff, comprehensive professional development plans, fair wage and leave policies and an intense focus on recruiting fairs and innovative posting ideas have been a focus for my department. As a result, we are one of the only district’s in our area that has been fully staffed each year.

I’m the proudest of implementing a Staff Achievement Scholarship Program, which allowed para-educators to return to school to pursue teaching degrees.

Port Angeles School District 2012-2014

Director of Human Resources

I was responsible for coordination of staffing projections, contract management, professional development, Title IX compliance, human resource planning, strategic plan reporting, budget management, and board policy series 5000. In addition, I worked on investigative issues and conducted all internal investigations and employee discipline.

I managed all aspects of human resources for approximately 600 employees. These employees were comprised of six different bargaining associations; I actively negotiated five of those collective bargaining agreements. I reported to the District Superintendent as a member of the Executive Leadership team as a strategic partner specializing in human resource management.

While with the Port Angeles School District, I overhauled the recruiting strategies by implementing an online application management system, increasing our recruiting presence through outreach and improved the culture and strengthened relationships.

Valley Medical Center 2011-2012

Clinic Manager

I reported to the Chief Executive Officer as the manager of both the pediatric and urgent care departments. I oversaw the daily operations focusing on physician and staff relationships, customer service and fiscal management. I effectively coordinated operations by implementing administrative policies, keeping abreast state and federal legislation and evaluating customer feedback. I provided leadership, direction and guidance to physicians and office staff.

I ensured that standards of conduct were implemented property; including respect, appearance, expectations, confidentiality, and ambassadorship. I conducted all aspects of practice staff employment. While at Valley Medical Center, I created the VMC ambassador program, which identified top performing staff, developed career plans, created management trainings, and allowed those staff to contribute to the organizational strategies.

Palouse Pediatrics 2009-2011

Clinic Manager

My position reported to the Pullman Regional Hospital Administrator. I oversaw daily operations of the pediatric clinic. I maintained the schedule for the physicians and support staff. I was responsible for active recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of clinic staff. I maintained all employment records, conducted annual reviews, completed payroll, handled benefit administration and was responsible for aspects of conflict resolution and employee grievances.

I was an ambassador for the clinic in the community. I represented the clinic at various local events, regional management meetings, in the local schools and development programs, and with the marketing team throughout our expansion.
