Lead Mechanical Engineering, managing / supervising up to 6 engineers and 20 designers (pressure vessel, heat exchangers, storage tanks, rotating equipment - pumps & compressors -, piping, piping stress analysis and material selection). Work included the provision of all basic and detail engineering deliverables such as project specifications, Inspection Testing Plans, equipment data sheets, Pressure Vessel detail & fabrication drawings, pressure vessel ASME Code Calculation Report, Equipment plot plans, piping isometrics, piping stress reports, Material Requisitions, Bid Evaluation, Vendors’ drawings & documents review, Special engineering studies such as corrosion monitoring & control. These engineering deliverables are part of the scope of work for the TABNAK GAS TREATING PLANT & ASSALUYEH LOADING FACILITIES PROJECT in IRAN. Estimated at U$700 million, the plant will add facilities to treat additional 900 MSm3/h of natural gas.

Managing the Mechanical Engineering Group includes manpower budget planning, work assignments, workload plans, schedules & target dates, technical reviews, Engineering Codes application, engineering quality control, approval of all deliverables, responding to client’s inquiries, and conducting employees’ performance appraisals.

SYNCRUDE CANADA

Section Head, Mechanical Engineering / Technical Advisor, responsible for planning and implementing project management controls, providing administration and technical direction to engineers and designers, planning, budgeting, scheduling for a variety of capital and maintenance projects for Syncrude, including:

Utilities - Mechanical Section Head responsible for all technical, design, repairs and modifications in supporting Utilities and Power Generation Plant including all shutdown engineering items. Equipment included Boilers, Main Condensers, feed water heaters, steam drums, ash removal system, Turbines, Compressors, heat exchangers, piping systems, tanks etc.

Two Fluid Coker Units -provided design, engineering and problem solving for numerous technical problems during the first two years of start-up. Provided design engineering for debottlenecking Coker units to increase production of equipment. Modification was carried out to the Coker Feed Pumps, Heat Exchangers and interconnecting lines. Also provided plant engineering /maintenance support for Coker Shutdowns as required.

Debottleneck Project - Mechanical Section Head responsible for preparation of basic and detail design, monitoring and approval of contractor and vendor drawings, evaluation of tenders and quality control of all mechanical equipment, on this $150 Million Debottleneck program for “Upgrading Units”, which ultimately resulted in a production increase of 20% annually. Equipment included pumps, compressors, turbines, motors, heat exchangers, process furnaces, pressure vessels, valves, control valves, safety relief system, piping, structures, cranes, drums, tanks, instrumentation and substations.

Naphtha Recovery Plant -Mechanical Section Head, responsible for development of design specifications, detail engineering and construction trouble shooting for the mechanical portion of an $11 Million Naphtha Recovery unit. Mechanical equipment included pumps, pressure vessels, turbines, motors, piping valves, control stations, safety relief systems, safety monitoring equipment, cranes, heat exchangers, towers, drums, drainage and sewer system, and an emergency blow down system.

Water Treatment Plant Expansion -responsible for design specifications, detail design and monitoring field construction. Mechanical equipment included a high lift pump station, low lift pump station, valves, piping, tankage, screens and filters, exchangers and treatment vessels and waste disposal system.

Vibration Monitoring -directed study team in the development, recommendation and implementation of solutions for vibration problems with main bitumen feed pumps. Equipment included pumps, motors, turbines, valves, piping, strainers and vibration equipment. Work included an analog computer analysis.

Miscellaneous - responsible for factory and field acceptance tests for main feed pumps in the Coker units, as well as associated motors, turbines, piping, valves, hangers, supports, structures and foundations.

Plant Shutdowns - responsible for mechanical engineering for over 100 maintenance work items for annual shutdowns, and all resulting repairs on pumps, turbines, compressors, heat exchangers, piping, valves, tanks, drums, pressure vessels, structures, furnaces, steam boilers, sewers, drainage systems, etc.

CAP Piping - responsible for review and approval of all piping tie ins for the Capacity Addition Project (CAP), valued at $750 Million.

COLT Engineering Corp., Interprovincial Pipeline Inc- Line 9 Reversal Project

Lead Mechanical Engineering, responsible for supervising the mechanical group consisting of 11 engineers, designers and CAD drafters, and organizing, planning and carrying out Basic and Detail Engineering for “Line 9 Reversal” project. Work included hydraulic studies, stress analyses, material requisitions, construction detail drawings and hydro testing packages. Equipment included main pump, booster pumps, piping systems, crude oil storage tank, sump tanks, injection pumps, fire water line, pressure control stations, pressure relief station and metering equipment. The project included the reversal of crude oil (270,000 BPD) supplies from Montreal to Sarnia. A total of 9 stations/terminals were modified and a new 150 foot crude oil storage tank was constructed.

ALBERTA POWER LIMITED (ATCO) EDMONTON - VARIOUS PROJECTS

Project Manager responsible for supervising, organizing, planning and carrying out construction and design of projects as well as management of all related activities.

Developed project systems and procedures, work schedules, cost control and reporting system. Prepared betterment proposals with justifications for capital funds authorization. Managed contract consultants and construction companies for all field work, and prepared contract documents. The following are detailed responsibilities:
