WORK EXPERIENCE
2010 – Date New Quay Boat Trips Receptionist/Office Administrator
I am responsible for the booking office for dolphin spotting trips. I produce templates to monitor the bookings on each trip both for cash reconciliation and Health and Safety purposes. I keep records of cash taken and tickets sold and liaise with the business owner and skippers/crew to agree and advertise trip times taking into consideration weather and tidal conditions. I take telephone, internet and face-to-face bookings and enquiries, sometimes simultaneously which can make this a much pressured role. I worked part time at weekends originally during the April- October season, and then progressed to a full time position.
2008 – 2014 Cambrian Training Company NVQ Assessor
Training Officer in Hospitality/Hospitality Services including Supervision & Management, Food & Beverage, Housekeeping, Front/Back office and Reception, initially covering Ceredigion and then all of Wales. I visited learners within their workplace having negotiated appointments to suit business needs, assessed their work, assisted them with improving their competencies and mentored the completion of their portfolios. I also supported learners in various skills and numeracy assignments. I was responsible for completing administration such as uploading learners’ work to the company mainframe and accurately completing WAG, company and regulatory bodies’ paperwork.
1994 – 2008 The White Lion, Vintage Inn Coventry Duty Manager
Responsible for opening & closing procedures, cash handling, staff supervision, rotas and wages, cellar responsibilities inclusive of line cleaning, ordering stock and stock checks, deliveries, staff training and performance reviews, managing health & safety, food hygiene and licensing legislation, serving food and beverages to customers.
1988 – 1993 The Arts Centre Bar, University of Warwick Supervisor
Responsible for the day to day running of 2 bars, serving customers, cellar management, cash handling, supervising staff, rotas and wages. The Arts Centre hosts internationally known actors, musicians, comedians and symphony orchestras over 5 venues. This could mean 2800 customers being in the building at any one time which required forward planning and preparation such as ensuring staff availability for intervals and setting up and managing drinks receptions for VIP guests.
1985 – 1988 Brown & White, Coventry Receptionist/Office Administrator
Duties included operating a BT Regent Switch board, Fax machine, word processing and general office management within Coventry’s leading Ford car dealership.
1983 – 1985 Dr G J Murphy, Coventry University Administrator
Duties included all paperwork for the Business Studies Department.
1979 – 1983
I worked part-time when still in school and then in a variety of full-time roles all based within the Hospitality industry.
HOBBIES & INTERESTS
I am interested in Art from Da Vinci to Dali and European travel, often combining the two. More recently I have enjoyed discovering Polish art and culture. I visit Sitges carnival in Catalonia annually and enjoy designing my costumes.
