Chemical Engineering Research Student September, 2014 – August, 2016 University of Waterloo Waterloo, ON, CANADA
Thesis: The Study Of Effects Of Design Modifications In Static Mixer Geometry For Laminar Flow Using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)
Achievements: Developed new designs of static mixers, which impose 20 to 30% less pressure drop and give 30 to 40% more axial dispersion and distributive mixing as compared to standard commercially available static mixers. These static mixers are also shown to be used in polymerization process giving better results.
• Study the hydrodynamic behaviour and mixing performance of commercial static mixers (Kenics and SMX static mixer) in laminar flow region using COMSOL Multiphysics as a CFD software
• Designing of various static mixers geometries using AutoCAD software.
• Propose new designs and/or modifications to current static mixer geometries to improve the overall performance of static mixer at reduced cost
• Define a complete CFD model to carry out the simulations by coupling COMSOL software with MATLAB
• Application of new static mixer designs in manufacturing of polymers PROJECT: Teaching Assistant For Bachelor’s Students Subjects: Physical Chemistry, Mass Transfer Operations, Process Control.
• Excellent knowledge of subjects mentioned above
• Managing course related administrative work for each term
• Dedicated office hours for students to help in understanding the course material better and provide them correct direction in solving assignments
• Grading exams and assignments
Graduate Operations Engineer July 2013 – June 2014 Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) Jamnagar, GJ, INDIA Achievements: Within 1 year, worked with production units of two plants of world’s largest grass-root refinery. After successfully working in CFP, as a part of training, I was given an opportunity to work in Aromatics plant as a part of company’s new commissioning project worth of $15B.
• On field training in Clean Fuel Plant(CFP) and Aromatics Plant of world’s largest oil and gas refinery
• Learnt the plant operations of Selective Catalyst Naphtha Refining Unit and Heavy Naphtha Unifier Unit
• Responsible for continuous co-ordination with panel operators and field executives to carry out the routine field jobs
• Worked in the production department to operate the plant in stable condition
• On field training during the periodic plant start up and shut down Chemical Engineering Co-Op May 2012 – June 2012
Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) Vadodara, GJ, INDIA Achievements: Understanding of field operations and hands on experience of panel operations of CDU and VDU plant.
• Overview of whole refinery process
• Training on processes performed within refinery, relevant process equipment and different aspects of distillation
