University of Arizona, Tucson, AZ

Bachelor of Science, Biochemistry, May, 2013

University of Central Arkansas, Conway, AR

Research Experience

Research Assistant with Dr. Pascale Charest, 2014-Present University of Arizona, Tucson, AZ

Investigated how the target of rapamycin complex 2 (TORC2) regulates cancer cell migration. Used lentiviral delivery of shRNA to knockdown TORC2 components, examined the effect of growth factors on TORC2 activity by western blot, and visualized cell migration using confocal microscopy. Research Assistant with Dr. Melissa Kelley, 2011-2013 University of Central Arkansas, Conway, AR

Tested the effect of troglitazone on retinoic acid metabolism using HPLC, cellular adhesion using a spectroscopy based assay, proliferation using an ELISA based assay, and used flow cytometry to determine what integrins were expressed in response to retinoic acid in human K562 cells. This work was published in the journal PLOS One (DOI: 10.1371/journal.pone.0093005). Laboratory Skills

• BSL-2 tissue culture

• Western blotting

• Gel electrophoresis

• Flow cytometry

• DNA isolation and purification

• Confocal microscopy

• Lentiviral production and purification

• Site directed mutagenesis

• Column chromatography

• Protein purification
