PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Cleveland Clinic, Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine, Postdoctoral Fellow, 2008-Present
Supervised the logistics, management and execution of research programs.
Research focused on the roles and regulation of myosin II in driving cell migration and invasion using array of biochemical, cellular and live cell imaging approaches during cancer progression and invasive migration by cancer cells.
Projects included: Myosin IIA heavy chain phosphorylation regulates 3D protrusion and invasiveness in breast cancer cells-by regulating myosin IIA recruitment to protrusions, and focal adhesion formation; determining whether Myosin IIA is a tumor suppressor; regulation and dynamics of myosin II activation during epidermal wound responses.
Case Western Reserve University, Department of Biochemistry, Research Associate, 2005-2008.
Research focused on the mechanisms associated with the development of cardiovascular complications in patients with sleep disordered breathing, including the effect of intermittent hypoxia associated with sleep apnea. Projects included: studies of effect of Chronic Intermittent Hypoxia (CIH) on acute hypoxic-induced catecholamine (CA) efflux in adult rat adrenal medulla via oxidative stress; regulation of tyrosine hydroxylase (TH) in rat different regions of brainstem and adrenal medulla and to elucidate the mechanism(s) associated with modulation of TH activity by CIH; effect of Neuropeptide Y on tyrosine hydroxylase activity in the different regions of brainstem and adrenal medulla and the role of different receptors (Y1 and Y2) in the modulation of activity.
