Kansas State University, Manhattan, KS Jan, 2010 – May, 2014 B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. Cumulative GPA: 3.44/4.00 Relevant Course: Aerodynamics, Machine Design I&II, Mechanics of Material, Stress & Strain, Thermodynamics I&II, Heat Transfer

Senior Project: City of Topeka Wastewater Treatment Plant Modification.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

GREE Electric Appliances Inc. Zhuhai, China Jun, 2014 – Aug, 2014 Intern Mechanical engineer

Conducted energy consumption calculation for new AC/Heater products to prepare data for marketing department, for advertising and introducing purpose.

Prepared CAD files of different parts of AC/Heater products for senior engineers, from drawing the CAD models to converting the CAD files into CAE-ready files for ANSYS.

Improved reliability of the outdoor condenser stand, which would be mounted on the outside wall of buildings and support about 88 lb. outdoor condenser, by collaborating with other engineer interns using Solidworks and ANSYS to perform stress analysis and structure modification.

Yu-Tong Steel Products Co., Ltd., Dongguan, China May, 2012 – Aug, 2012 Intern Manufacturing Engineer

Operated TRUMPF L3030 laser cutting machine, from designing cutting pattern, behavior configuration, and position arrangement on computer, to operating the machine.

Utilized the SolidWorks and AutoCAD to edit product design with GD&T principals. And optimize cutting patterns to improve production efficiency and reducing wasted materials for the company. For each 6 ft 8 ft steel sheet, added 2 to 16 more pieces of products (depended on product size) than previous designed patterns, therefore reduced wasted material, while maintaining good product quality.

Designed and constructed office furniture and workbench parts for company use, saved over $1,200 for the organization.

Ostling Marking System (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd., Shenzhen, China May, 2011 – Aug, 2011 Intern Technical Assistant

Assisted the Market Manager with the introduction of marking systems to customers, by operating the laser, electrolytic, or chemical marking systems in the production of samples, and explaining specifications.

Installed newly acquired systems from German HQ, and assisted with planned phase out of displaced systems. Also performed maintenance to all displacing systems.

Contacted local marking system suppliers, collected market data, and found lower prices, along with improved quality machine supplies, for each 500 mL etching electrolyte reduced $0.56, thereby reducing over $2,000 annually. Yapeng Gao Page 2

Repairing the RC aircraft if they are damaged during field testing. Kansas State University SAE Aero Design Team Aug, 2013 – Jan, 2014

Building parts and assembling RC model aircraft for testing and competition.

Measuring and calculating specifications of the aircraft, such as center of gravity, aerodynamics center, wing/tail span and surface area, etc., for team designer to modify and improve our work.

Preparing equipment to perform wind tunnel test for wing section. Kansas State University Engineering Ambassador Aug, 2012 – May, 2013

Guided and introduced groups of visitors to Kansas State University Engineering Department, including showing and introducing the workshops and the experimental nuclear reactor.

Provided information about Kansas State University, from a student’s perspective, and encouraged high school students in Kansas region to choose one of KSU’s Engineering programs.
