• Interact with clients through written correspondence via hardcopy and e-mail, telephone and in-person communications.
• Became skilled at navigating and electronically filing legal documents/pleadings in the U.S. District Court of Maryland and District of Columbia.
• Transcribe and type or draft correspondence, memoranda, pleadings, proofreading and ensuring quality of legal documents. Perform a variety of secretarial duties, including client contact, telephone support and maintain files.
• Receive, screen and transmit telephone and conference calls and messages to attorneys, clients and staff.
• Coordinate conferences, meetings and appointments for attorneys and clients, including conference room scheduling, meals and preparation of materials.

• Coordinate mass mailings, including filings with state and federal courts and agencies. Perform a variety of secretarial functions, including processing new client/matter reports, expense reports, preparing notebooks and exhibits.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Good familiarity with legal terminology and procedures pertinent to the area of assignment, ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Interpersonal skills necessary in order to establish effective working relationships.
• Ability to effectively handle telephone contacts. Good organizational skills for prioritizing workload. Ability to compose correspondence and court documents.
• Ability to proof and perform minor editing (e.g., punctuation, grammar, spelling) of routine office correspondence, court documents and forms. Ability to accurately type 90 wpm.
• Good familiarity with Montgomery County, Prince George’s County Circuit and District Court procedures.
