Job Descriptions:

Admit patient and accompany to their designated room and orient them as well as

relatives in the unit-set-up, attends to their minor complaints, and give direct nursing

care.

Formulation of the nursing care plan depending on the patient condition and capacity.

Monitor and record vital signs such as blood pressure, temperature and pulse rate,

respiration rate, including measuring of intake and output, regularly check diapers,

clothes, beddings and general condition.

Supervise the junior staff/midwife in application and execution of nursing procedure

and techniques such as bathing, oral hygiene, dressing, feeding and some activities of

bedside care.

Assist patient in moving and maintaining proper alignment of patient body and

utilizing good body mechanics.

Prepare patient for diagnostic procedure and treatment. Observe for any signs and

symptoms regarding the disease process and give remedial action when appropriate.

Administer and chart medication as ordered by the doctor, observe for any signs of

reaction to medication and report immediately to the attending physician.

Assist the physician when examining the patient, carry out doctors legal order, ward

rounds, coordinate to the co-nurses on duty and report any significant event relevant

to patient care.

Train and orient new nursing personnel and non-nursing personnel to all activities, set

up and procedure in the unit.

Assist patient especially those with prolonged confinements in performing the

activities of daily living, necessary to provide early recovery and gives comfort and

emotional support.

Responsible in giving the assignments and tasks for the shift and ensuring that all

pertinent endorsement coming from co-nurses and doctors are carried out.

Make a written and verbal endorsement to the incoming nurse on duty regarding

observation, plan of care, treatment accomplished for the whole shift.
