EXPERIENCE
RESEARCH ASSISTANT GEORGIA SOUTHERN UNIVERSITY
AUGUST 1, 2015 – MARCH 24, 2016
Assisted a certified chemistry professor in the research of improving the energy capacity of Lithium-Ion batteries. Created cathode and anode membranes from various active materials, binders, and conductive additives. Carbonized membranes and constructed batteries in an air sensitive glove box. Performed multiple test on the membranes to determine their efficiency. Test included Thermogravimetric Analysis, Scanning Electron Microscopy, X-Ray Diffraction, Raman Spectroscopy, and Transmission Electron microscopy.
GRADUATE LABORATORY ASSISTANT GEORGIA SOUTHERN UNIVERSITY
AUGUST 1, 2014 - DECEMBER 31, 2015
Analyzed organic and inorganic compounds to determine their chemical properties. Conducted quality control tests and directed test procedures. Organized lab test solutions, compounds, and reagents. Routinely calibrated scales to minimize leakage due to calibration errors. Interpreted test results and developed nonstandard tests. Determined the identity and content in drinking water, waste water and surface waters. Recorded test results using a variety of chemistry-specific software programs. Maintained compliance with the DEC and EPA. Operated wet methods and instrumentation analysis. Operated and maintained analytical instruments such as FTIR, GC, and Calorimeter.
