EXPERIENCE HIGHLIGHTS

Northeastern University Combustion Lab, Boston, MA 9/2015 12/2015

Researcher

Aided project leader with testing, data processing, and analysis with calculations performed with the C program.

Configured the combustion gas tube, electrical control wires, completed sealing work, and filled gases for 24 different sets

of combustion tests.

Performed control module programming employing LabVIEW to achieve the required 10 second ignition delay for safety.

Deployed a high speed camera and pressure and temperature sensors with input to LabVIEW to capture data and imaging of

combustions.

Calculated the ratio of the product species after combustion using C program based on STANJAN codes.

Conducted tests on the exhaust gas analyzing the percentage of remains under diverse conditions by changing such

parameters as the percentage of gas and oxygen, temperature, ignition speed, etc.

Documented data and analysis reporting corresponding results to the project advisor.

BYD Automotive Company, Xi an, China, Summer 2014

Engine Test Engineer Intern

Assembled dashboards of electrical parts, control panel, and wiring for the exhaust test sensors for BYD F0 Model.

Performed tests on exhaust ingredients utilizing LabVIEW to display warnings of toxic gases in the residue.

Analyzed engine malfunctions by checking the warning information diagnostics.

Conducted quality assurance tests of the control system and sensors for the driving assistant system employing MATLAB

Simulink. From the test results designed an enhancement to the control program which reduced the redevelopment cycle by

four weeks.

Internal Combustion Engine Lab, Wei Hai, China, 3/2014 5/2014

Co op Researcher

Designed the location and dimension of the intake and exhaust valve as well as the platform for the engine thermal system

utilizing CATIA.

Performed CFD simulations for the engine model checking the temperature and heat transfer fringe under different intake

and exhaust dimensions, locations, and speeds.

Tested PID controls of engine cylinder temperature by changing the intake and exhaust flow rates.

Achieved the creation of a steady temperature system through effective use of temperature sensors and PID module

controls.

Developed and tested a 1:10 model engine with adiabatic materials, temperature sensors, and a control module.

Validated engine performance of the newly designed PID control system.

FAW Automotive Company, Automotive Engine Lab, Changchun, China, 9/2013 1/2014

Powertrain Test Intern

Utilized 3D modeling to construct a powertrain system with existing components stored in the database and completed the

simulation work for older model cars.

Performed comparison testing between different types of transmission, shafts, and bearing system`s power efficiency to

identify and report failures.

Prepared vehicle for NVH tests through the application of 18 vibration sensors to collect pertinent data.

Executed durability testing employing a road simulation machine to record data on powertrain performance.

FAW Automotive Company, Changchun, China, 6/2013 8/2013

Product Design Engineer Intern

Designed a prototype cylinder head and engine crankshaft structure based on

the DVP&R.

Performed DFMEA on the structure design, functional verification, customer

needs and the cost evaluation reporting the completed analysis for managerial review.

Xiayuan Wang

Developed 3D modeling for newly designed components such as the

crankshaft, engine housing, and snap ring.

Modified the GD & T (geometric dimensioning and tolerancing) on the

existing drawings for the Assembly and Manufacturing departments.

Harbin Institute of Technology SAE Racing Team, Wei Hai, China, 3/2013 5/2013

Metal Fabrication Intern

Performed diversion machining duties including the soldering, lathing, and milling of the suspension`s components.

Employed metal tools such as drills, iron bench, etc. to build a prototype of a race car`s driving cell.

Followed design drawings to construct a shaft and connection rods adjusting each component`s size and angle for better

stability and car performance.

Authored a report outlining a strategy for Design department to optimize the power delivery system.
