I fell into recruiting completely by accident in 2008 when I was hired as a Sourcer. Up until that point I had no real career goals; it was all about supporting myself financially. What I expected to be just another job turned into something much more. I found that recruiting was one of those rare careers that allowed me to make a difference. I was able to make a difference for individuals seeking to support their families and companies looking for valued employees and in turn support the economy. It became my passion.

However, over time I found that many recruiting firms cared more about a paycheck than making quality placements. They would make matches based solely on skill set rather than taking into consideration personality and gut instinct. The result was that often their clients experienced high turnover rates and eventually would look elsewhere for their hiring needs. I believe that finding the right person for a job isn’t just recruiting, it is matchmaking, and it should be done urgently but thoughtfully.

8 years later I have learned all the little tricks of the trade; I have had to find creative ways to seek out those quality candidates, worked on what seemed to be impossible deadlines, worked with unreasonable requirements, and impossibly stubborn managers but I have always found a way to succeed.
