QUALIFICATIONS
I have accumulated 31 years as an environmental consultant with experience in management of a large variety of projects, including Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments, Ohio VAP Property Assessments, and investigations of sites under BUSTR, RCRA, CERCLA, and other state-mandated programs. I have excellent analytical, writing, communication, and organizational skills. I am adept at building and maintaining effective, productive working relationships with clients and co-workers, and am committed to a high level of personal and professional integrity. I am seeking a project management position that offers technical challenges and the opportunity to be involved in interesting projects.
PROJECT EXPERIENCE
Former Metals Smelting Site, Florida – Part of a supervisory team involved in the design and implementation of soil and groundwater remediation at a former metal smelting facility in Florida. The remediation consisted of large-scale excavation and treatment of lead and arsenic impacted soil. Groundwater remediation included implementation of a large-scale groundwater neutralization system to raise the pH of acidic groundwater and reduce levels of dissolved metals. The goal of the remediation was the removal of the RCRA permit and obtaining final clean closure of the site from FDEP. Directed daily site activities and managed, tracked, and tabulated site data. Prepared summary presentations for client and regulatory agencies. Prepared final closure report and received NFA on the soils unit.
Aluminum Foundry, South-Central Ohio: Supervised the site investigation, design and installation of a remedial pump and treat system as part of a RCRA Interim Action at a facility where chlorinated solvents were migrating through a dissolved dolomitic bedrock aquifer towards the local buried valley aquifer. Investigation included the performance of a fracture trace study to assess product plume migration in subsurface fractures of the aquifer. Managed ongoing maintenance and monitoring of the site groundwater and remediation system. Prepared an Attainment Monitoring Plan for submittal to the Ohio EPA to obtain termination of the remedial system.
Polymer Manufacturing Facility, Knoxville, Tennessee: Performed numerous phases of investigation over a 15-year period at an acrylic polymer manufacturing facility involving chlorinated solvent migration in a fractured bedrock aquifer. Participated in negotiations with both federal and state regulatory agencies to refine and decrease original scope of investigation requirements. Prepared work plans and reports for a RFI under state and federal requirements. Investigations included aquifer pump and packer tests and analysis of fractured bedrock aquifer. Successfully completed EnvironmentaI Indicator Determination resulting in a positive “Current Human Exposures Under Control” determination for the facility.
Multiple Use Trucking and Industrial Facility, Cincinnati, Ohio: Supervised a Phase I/ Phase II Site Assessment of a 16-acre multiple-use site. Conducted an investigation of a chlorinated solvent plume which was migrating through the sand and gravel buried-valley aquifer underlying the site. Also conducted additional delineation of petroleum-impacted soil and groundwater from a former underground storage tank system in accordance with the Ohio Bureau of Underground Storage Tank Regulations Tier assessment requirements.
Former Lumber Company and Casket Manufacturing Facility, Bristol, Tennessee: Performed Phase I/ Phase II Site Assessment, former UST area investigation and soil remediation in accordance with TDEC guidance.
Municipal Government, Eastern Ohio: Performed VAP Phase I PA and prepared work plan for Phase II PA at a municipality whose wellfield was threatened by impact from a migrating plume of PCE from a local drycleaner. Assisted in preparation of the Ohio Assistance Fund Application for Phase II Environmental Site Assessment.
Former Manufacturing Facility, South-Central Ohio: Performed VAP Phase I PA and initiated Phase II investigative activities at a former manufacturing facility where a migrating plume of TCE was threatening the adjacent municipal wellfield.
Metal Plating Facility, Dayton, Ohio: Supervised site investigation and evaluation of remedial alternatives under the Ohio VAP for a metal plating facility with trichloroethylene migrating in a sand and gravel sole-source aquifer.
Municipal Landfill, West-Central Ohio: Prepared Hydrogeologic Site Investigation as part of a PTI for a sanitary landfill vertical expansion.
County Government, East-Central Ohio: Prepared Hydrogeologic Site Investigation as part of a PTI for a municipal wastewater treatment lagoon and surface application area.
Regional Natural Gas Supply Company, East-Central U.S: Program Manager for site characterizations on a number of active and former natural gas compressor stations. Managed preparation of sampling and analysis plans, acquisition and evaluation of site data, and preparation of site characterization reports.
Municipal Landfill, Cincinnati, Ohio: Managed site investigation at a former municipal landfill where buried waste drums were discovered. Activities included waste characterization studies, soil, groundwater and surface water sampling, and hydrogeologic study of leachate and contaminant plume migration.
Various Facilities, East-Central U.S.: Performed or reviewed hundreds of Phase I Environmental Site Assessments for real estate transactions on various types of sites including large commercial and industrial facilities, multi-story buildings, a 5-mile long railroad right-of-way, a former strip mine, steel manufacturing facilities, and undeveloped land.
Various Facilities, Southern Ohio: Managed and conducted UST investigations at large number of underground storage tank sites. This work included UST removals, site assessments, groundwater monitoring, preparation of corrective action plans, and remediation.
HEALTH & SAFETY MANAGEMENT EXPERIENCE
Operated as one of Apex Company, LLC’s regional health & safety officers. Responsible for preparing and implementing site-specific Health and Safety plans at various facilities, including excavation, manufacturing, chemical, petroleum, industrial, hazardous waste, and underground storage tank sites. Activities at these facilities included the use of equipment such as drilling rigs, excavators, dozers, loaders, and other heavy equipment. Safety management considerations included ensuring that activities were compliant with corporate policies. Prepared and presented monthly on-site health and safety training sessions.
