Employment history:
January 2010 - Present: Saint Augustine's University Classes taught:
Introduction to Business, Principles of Marketing, Principles of
Management, Community and Economic Development, First Year Experience,
Entrepreneurship, Organizational Behavior, Business Communications,
Personal Finance, and Managerial Management. Additionally I sit on the
judicial committee, the Pre-alumni committee, and the Diversification
committee. I was the representative for the School of Business and
Technology for the employee giving committee, and given the duty of being
responsible for the homecoming parade for the last four years. I attend all
home football games, and some basketball games. I have written numerous
recommendation letters, and have been able to set up internships for a
few of my students. I was awarded the 2012-2013 ROS Adviser of the Year. I
was presented with a letter of gratitude from the sports department for my
work with individual students. I also attend social events such as Open
House and Parents weekend. For the last three years ago I participated in
the Special Olympics for the state of North Carolina.
2009: Self employed as a tutor for special needs students.
2008-2009: 2008 I was a sales representative for ADT cameras division. I
worked with businesses and homeowners to design security systems and camera
packages to help secure their interest.
Teaching Experience: 2000 to 2007
I am certified in all areas of Special Education, and I have worked with
students in most areas of disabilities. I taught one year in an elementary
school, one year in a middle school, and four years in high school. I
taught history, economics, civics, reading and writing. I also spent a
great deal of time teaching life skills such as how to interview, how to
dress for an interview, and how to prepare for life after high school. I
have been able to take students that no other teacher wanted, and I have
been able to meet goals and objectives that many thought they could not
achieve. I have offered different alternatives for the assessment of this
group of students that have helped many to graduate. I have written daily
lesson plans, and wrote well over a hundred Individual Educations Plans
(IEP'S).
I have worked with such agencies as the Warm Springs Institute in Warm
Springs, Ga., Head Start programs in rural Georgia, and many other agencies
that deal with students with special needs.
I have been in a teaching environment for most of my career be it in a
school setting or a business setting. I enjoy helping others gain
knowledge.
While as a teacher on the high school level, I was an assistant football
and volleyball coach. I was head track coach at one high school and was
fortunate to have two of my students qualifying for state.
In addition to my other duties as a special education teacher, I had a case
load of approximately 25-30 students each year that I would write IEP's
for. I am well versed in the writing of an IEP, how to conduct an IEP
meeting, and making and maintaining contact with parents. I have also had
experiences helping to train other special education teachers.
I have coached football, volleyball, soccer, track, and baseball.
Business experience: 1981 to 2000
For 19 years I worked in several different areas of the business arena. I
have extensive experience in marketing, collections, management, training,
sales, and customer service.
I have worked in the positions of general manager, manager, assistant
manager and store manager in several different industries. I have managed
facilities where I was responsible for inventory control, daily, weekly,
and monthly reports. I have managed have experience in upper level
management as a general manager for an ADT Alarm company affiliate. I have
managed as few as two employees to as many as 20.
I have been responsible for dealing with large amounts of cash, including
making daily deposits, and keeping accurate financial records.
I have experience working with local businesses to build and maintain a
business relationship and to meet their needs.
I spent six years in the collections industry where I was responsible for
collecting for clients such as CitiBank and American Express. I met monthly
goals ten out of 12 months for all six years. I was awarded Employee of the
Year in 1987. I also helped individuals find ways to get help for their
financial problems with such companies like Consumer Credit Counseling.
While in the collection industry and as a general manager, I was
responsible for the training of all new employees. I taught collection law,
sales techniques, and customer service skills. Other duties included
responsibility for interviewing, hiring and dismissal of employees.
I spent four years in direct sales both inside and outside sales. I have
cold called to develop new accounts, followed up on provided leads,
procured leads from customers and used other techniques to locate new
customers.
Military experience: United States Navy March 1978 to March 1981 active
duty, (1981 to March 1984. reserves, (discharged 1984.)
Grades 9-12
General subject areas. I taught in a self-contained classroom with behavior
disorder and learning disabilities students.

There were 19 students that were in my self-contained classroom. I wrote
IEP's and conducted IEP meetings.
I taught English, history, writing skills, life skills, basic math skills,
and reading
I was the assistant coach for the women's Volleyball team.
I made an error in judgement, and used the school computer after hours to
access inappropriate web-sites. At no time was there a student present.
The mistake I made was in using the school property.
I was given a one year suspension of my certificate. Once it was completed,
I was re-instated by the State of Georgia.
Also during the time of my suspension, I earned an MBA from Troy
University.
