I was the AS class teacher for special education students in a self-contaied classroom. I was responsible for twenty two students designing IEP'S, and teaching all of their core classes. They were only able to go to electIves in the general education setting.
Accomplishments
I had great relationships with the students and parents. I learned to bring out a confidence from the students that helped them to see that they are able to succeed even though they may have disabilities. There are many ways to overcome barriers with perseverance.
Camp Director
Paws and Hooves Animal Services - Santa Teresa, NM - May 2013 to August 2015 Responsibilities
Design activities for camp recreation, teach horseback riding, grooming, health care, animal diet, and safety around horses to the children of the camp. Make sure children treat all animals on the farm with kindness and respect. Many varieties of animals in the camp, such as rabbits, dogs, kittens, horses, goats, sheep, cows,and a chinchilla. We also taught the children to respect wildlife that we encountered at the farm and to leave them alone. Frogs, lizards, birds, foxes and coyotes are examples of who we saw regularly. Gardening and nature awareness were also part of the curriculum.
