Objective:

To put language, people and technical skills to use in a safety and/or training environment while helping a company with safety, productivity, and quality work which are the responsibilities of all employees regardless of status or position. Even though my primary function/title has been full time safety for most of the last 15 years, many times I have doubled in other positions to include: running equipment during operations, receiving, supervising fabrication yards, training, translate, make up/follow punch lists and manage a punch list crew, manage a crew to assist with start up. I welcome the opportunity to work in a different country/culture to learn another language.

EXPERIENCE:

You will note work with several companies several times. Many were turn arounds/shut downs,/outages and long term assignments but almost all end with a lay off. In a 25 year career I have worked in 21 states/several countries and will travel almost anywhere. I worked regular with Metric (energy division of J.A. Jones) in the 1980’s and early 1990’s for about 8 years before it was dissolved.

Also worked union and non-union, power plants (Coal, gas, solar, wind and nuclear), paper mills, waste water treatment, bio-chemical, auto (BMW) and substation projects. I worked in the field many years and up to the position of a general foreman before taking a safety position. I believe this gives me an advantage over most safety professionals because most of the time the workers seem to respect and listen more as well as follow instruction due to my craft field experience.

Some duties included: attending regular client and contractor safety meetings; reviewing client and contractor compliance with site Safety Plans and performance; preparing written monthly and quarterly safety reports; site inspection observations related to construction safety, site orientations (in English and Spanish).

In the past have been a LOTO manager on startup as well as trained workers on PPE, man lifts, scissor lifts, forklifts, confined space, fall protection, etc. Many years ago I have passed a structural welder test, and have also been certified on hydraulic cranes up to 60 tons, boom truck, and other equipment. I also possess a current CDL.

28 May 2012-25 May 2013 Safety Manager-Lauren E&C Solar-Thermal Plant, Blythe, CA – Safety Manager-Lauren E & C provided a core team to the Construction Management Team for Nextera’s 250 MW solar thermal plant in Blythe, California. The scope of the project includes constructability review, procurement support, and construction oversight of solar fields, power blocks and common water treatment facilities in support of two 125MW CSP units.
