Hyster Yale Inc (NMHG), Greenville, NC 2011 – June 2014

NMHG, (Hyster-Yale Material Handling Inc.) is a $2.7 billion independent global company that designs, engineers, manufactures, sells and services a comprehensive line of lift truck and material handling equipment.

Vice President Human Resources, Americas

Reported directly to the COO and President, Americas.

Recruited to lead and reengineer the Americas HR organization consisting of Headquarters, Engineering, Manufacturing, and an Aftermarket Parts business with locations in the US (6), Mexico and Brazil. Results included significant HR talent upgrades and the implementation of an effective HR Business Partner (HRBP) culture.

Spearheaded and launched a global talent management (TM) initiative focused on the enhancement of 5 key TM elements, including Talent Acquisition, Competencies, Performance Management, Leadership/Employee Development, and a robust Talent Review process.

Provided HR leadership supporting a dynamic reorganization of the Sales and Marketing organization. Tactfully recruited top industry leadership and successfully executed a restructuring consisting of over 200 newly created Sales and Marketing positions.

Led the NMHG organization on an enhanced focus of Health, Safety and Environmental excellence, ensuring compliance and Federal, State and industry achievement recognition.

Accountable for numerous HR process effectiveness upgrades in the arenas of Talent Acquisition, Onboarding, Policies/procedures, AAP/OFCCP compliance and an Employee Communication/Recognition emphasis.

In 2014, sponsored the launch of a Human Resource Leadership Development Program (HRLDP) focused on developing/mentoring Masters Degree graduates for future HR leadership positions.

KOMATSU AMERICA CORP., Rolling Meadows, Illinois 2005 – 2011

$4.1 billion regional operation of Komatsu, Ltd., Japan, a $24 billion global manufacturer of construction, mining and industrial products equipment

Vice President, Human Resources KAC

Reported to the KAC Chairman’s office consisting of the Chairman/CEO (American) and the President/COO (Japanese). Directly accountable for Human Resources, payroll and facility services for 15 construction, mining, utility and product support locations totaling over 5,000 employees in the U.S., Canada, Central and South America. Responsible for the HR support to 10 additional Komatsu Ltd. Subsidiaries and joint-venture locations in the America’s region.

Total revamp and restructuring of the KAC HR function, including significant upgrades in HR talent, numerous HR process enhancements, and functional capacity cost reduction totaling over $1.5 million annualized.

Initiated and facilitated an organization effectiveness and enhancement process focused on “Culture as a Competitive Advantage,” resulting in improved strategic clarity, customer-linked efficiency, and enhanced employee trust and empowerment.

Selected by Komatsu Ltd., Japan as the only non-Japanese global design team member for establishing a “Global Management Development Workshop” for senior level non-Japanese leaders for all global regions.

Developed and implemented the first and second phase of a new leadership and talent review process for identifying talent gaps, high potential employees, and successors for top two layers of KAC leadership.

Led a comprehensive Payroll/HRIS upgrade, resulting in a robust process for 25 plus payrolls and integration to a common HRIS system.

In 2009/2010, led and facilitated a KAC organization restructuring initiative resulting in 5 location closures and consolidation/back-office integration of 4 regional subsidiary’s into the KAC corporate office. Total reduction in force (RIF) in excess of 2500 employees.

MIDAS INTERNATIONAL, Itasca, IL 2001 – 2005

$1.5 billion automotive aftermarket company with multiple business segments including franchise operations, merchandising, wholesale, manufacturing and logistics operations. Over 250 company operated locations and in excess of 2,700 Midas shops operating globally as franchisees and licensees.

Vice President, Human Resources

Recruited to reengineer the Human Resource function, provide HR direction and support business leaders with strategic HR partnership for the “New Midas Organization.” Reported directly to the CEO and Chairman.

Provided the leadership and facilitated the implementation of a strategic business model resulting in the elimination of 50% of the workforce and the closure of over 100 facilities.

Developed and implemented a distribution/manufacturing HR closure plan including strategies for labor negotiations for “decisional and effects bargaining.”

Reengineered an outdated and undisciplined performance management system resulting in enhanced employee contribution / development programs.

Drove major design change of incentive compensation plans with Board Compensation Committee linking reward with individual and business unit performance.

TENNECO AUTOMOTIVE 1997 – 2001

Senior Director, Human Resources, North America, Monroe, MI

Promoted to an expanded HR leadership role for a $1.5 billion strategic business unit including operations for the original equipment and aftermarket sales, marketing, engineering and manufacturing for ride control, emission control and elastomer product lines. Three engineering facilities and 23 manufacturing locations in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.

Senior Director, Human Resources - North America Aftermarket Business, Lake Forest, IL

Responsible for Human Resources of a $700 million business, manufacturing Monroe Ride Control and Walker Exhaust products to the North America Automotive Aftermarket. Seven manufacturing sites and 15 distribution centers totaling 4,500 employees. Reported to the Senior VP/GM of North American Aftermarket and provided HR leadership to U.S., Canada and Mexico.

RAYTHEON COMPANY, Ripon, WI 1996 – 1997

Vice President, Human Resources - Commercial Appliance Group

A group of two businesses, manufacturing commercial and residential equipment with 2,300 employees in multiple locations. Reported to the Group President. Provided HR leadership for headquarters and all manufacturing locations in the areas of strategic growth/planning, organization effectiveness, staffing, leadership development, compensation/benefit systems and proactive labor/employee relations programs.
