EXPERIENCE
08/91 to present HOGAN’S RESTAURANT CORPORATION
BLOOMFIELD HILLS, MI
ASSISTANT MANAGER
As Assistant Manager, I supervise the shifts I work, train new employees and close the restaurant at the end of the evening. In addition to overseeing the restaurant operation, I also serve as the lead bartender, provide wait service to the bar customers, control bar inventory and costs, and address customer complaints. I work closely with the kitchen staff to ensure they understand the individual requests of our regular clientele, and often introduce them to customers who appreciate their attentiveness. I am also in charge of the table layout and scheduling for special events such as the Mothers’ Day Banquet.
01/88 to 08/91 BUDDY’S PIZZA
FARMINGTON HILLS, MI
LEAD BARTENDER
Soon after being hired as a lead bartender, I was able to significantly grow the night business by introducing food service at the bar. This brought in repeat customers who got to know each other and wanted a very casual diner with newly developed friends. I was instrumental in uncovering theft in the organization as a result of improving inventory management and control.
1986 to 1987 THE DANISH CLUB
(Winters) SOUTHFIELD, MI (The American Center)
BANQUET MANAGER
Planned and managed events for 200 to 500 people, often several concurrently, including food selection and quantity assurance, table set up, linens, entertainment and decorations such as flowers and ice sculptures. I also took care of staffing needs and scheduling.
1986 to 1987 MISSION HILLS GOLF CLUB
(Summers) PLYMOUTH, MI
BANQUET MANAGER
This was a family run operation. I had many duties including bartending, serving and running the golf desk.
1979 to 1986 CONTINENTAL RESTAURANT CORPORATION
SOUTHFIELD, MI
CORPORATE TRAINER
I was initially hired as one of many bartenders at a Carlos Murphy’s restaurant, soon moved up to head bartender, and finally assumed supervisory responsibilities for all bartenders. Ultimately, I took on more responsibility at the corporate level, developed training manuals and tests for bar staff, and oversaw start-up bar operations at new Carlos Murphy’s restaurants including two in Chicago, two in Florida and one in California.

INTERESTS AND ACTIVITIES
I have had strong equestrian interests since eight years of age. I took riding lessons through my teenage years, but did not own a horse until I became an adult and started working. My current horse’s name is Ripley. After working with a trainer for the past few years, Ripley and I are becoming more skilled in working as a team and participating in challenging activities such as obstacle course riding and cow sorting. I have a first-hand understanding of the importance of horse care and training, as well as the need to respect the individual personality of each horse.
