Position Held: Staff Accountant

As Staff Accountant my responsibilities were Account Receivables, Accounts Payable, P&L Statement, Payroll, G/L, Main Cashiering and audits, as well as preparing the daily Profit & Loss reports of the hotel and restaurant.

I processed accounts payable and accounts receivable on a daily basis which includes collection calls to clients and speaking with A/P vendors regarding matters relating to invoices. I made the daily cash deposits and provide the front desk with working cash and audit cashier’s bank weekly. I also prepared and wrote journal entries, reconcile G/L accounts, and reconcile Bank accounts as well as Balance sheet accounts. I also assist the controller with the monthly financial closing. I monitor the actual expenses to the budget and provide the reason behind variances to department managers and management. In addition; I processed the bi-weekly payroll for the hotel and restaurant. I have saved money for the company by negotiating and renewing vendor contracts. I would use discounts offered in A/P to save money and I would evaluate purchases that can be cost productive. In A/R I would make sure invoices are correct before mailing by communicating with Sales so that payments will be received within terms and I follow up after contact with customers.

As a problem solver I spoke to vendors and customers to answer questions solve problems and maintain a professional business relationship. I have experience working with many different software programs including GreatPlains, QuickBooks, Excel, and Word.
