2011-July, 2014: Epic Account Manager: My responsibilities included enhancing physician optimization and tailoring the use of the Ambulatory (AMB) application of the Epic EMR. I was also the primary AMB Information Technology liaison between the corporate & affiliate physician offices and the AMB IT department. My regional area of responsibility included more than 75 physician practices. I was also responsible for working with our affiliate offices on the launch and use of Epic’s patient portal, MyChart. My emphasis was working closely with physicians and nurses to help meet Meaningful Use goals. I developed training programs with Epic software upgrades, and led training sessions with more than 100 attendees. I served as a champion for many Epic enhancements for our physician clients.

2010-2011: Epic/Ambulatory Trainer: My primary role was to lead classroom instruction for nurses, MA’s, mid-level practitioners & physicians in preparation for Epic (EMR) go-live in physician offices. My other primary role included providing on-site support for each 2 week “go-live” on the EMR.

2000-2010: Samaritan North Surgery Center: Staff Nurse (Pre-op, PACU, Pre-Admission Testing): I was the primary nurse in charge of the Pre-Admission Testing program for the ambulatory surgery center (ASC). I worked very closely with the anesthesia department to ensure patients were properly prepared for surgery with correct testing performed and results interpreted. With this collaboration, we had very view day of surgery cancellations. I obtained surgical clearances from primary and specialty care physicians when required. I also did extensive pre-operative patient education over the phone to prepare our patients for their surgery. I also worked 1 day a week in PACU and assisted in Pre-op as needed. I also worked a small amount in the laser eye room.

Far Hills Surgery Center, Dayton, OH: October 1998-April 2000: Staff Nurse, Pre-op and PACU in an (ASC). In Pre-op, I prepped patients for surgery and assisted the anesthesia department with numerous regional anesthesia procedures. In PACU, I recovered patients from local, regional, and general anesthesia for many surgery specialties.

Franciscan Medical Center, Dayton, OH: Spring 1998-Sept 2000: Staff Nurse, PACU, Phase I & II and the Pain Clinic. My initial year was in Phase I PACU for the initial recovery of simple outpatient procedures to open heart surgery. I also spent a large amount of time in the Phase II Recovery area assisting outpatients with their post-op education and discharge. I also spent a year working in the Pain Clinic. Here I worked closely with 2 Anesthesiologists, Board Certified in Pain Management. This role required extensive patient education and assisting the physicians with invasive pain management procedures.

Bellefonte Cancer Center, Ashland, KY: Sept 1993-Sept 1996. I returned to my Staff Nurse position to be nearer to my family.

Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton, OH: Dec 1992-Sept 1993: Staff Nurse, Medical/Surgical/Trauma ICU/Level I Trauma Center. I took care of critically ill patients with critical illness, critical burn patients, critically injured trauma patients, and patients requiring critical care post-op.

Cleveland Clinic Foundation, Cleveland, OH: Jan 1992-Dec1992: Staff Nurse, Bone Marrow Transplant Center. My duties as staff nurse included extensive patient education concerning BMT processes, administering high dose chemotherapy, supporting patient while severely immunocompromised, administering bone marrow & stem cell infusions, and supportive care post-transplant.

Bellefonte Cancer Center, Ashland, KY: Dec 1990-Dec 1991: Office Nurse for private oncology physician practice. I was responsible for extensive patient education, mixing & administering chemotherapy, phlebotomy (peripheral & central), maintaining & performing blood tests on a CBC machine, monitoring & interpreting numerous patient lab values, triaging patient phone calls, monitoring levels of medication & supply stocks and placing orders for additional stock and assisting physician with in-office procedures such as bone marrow biopsy & aspiration.

Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital, Ashland, KY: June 1990-Dec 1990: Staff nurse, Hematology/Oncology/Metabolic patient floor in a primary care setting.
