An Improved Statistical Filtering based Protocol for Congestion Control in Vanet.
Basic kalman filter used in solving congestion problem in VANET assumes that both the system and organization models are linear in nature which is not always true in many real life situations, as many scenarios can be non linear. In that case Basic Kalman Filter cannot solve the problem.
Extended Kalman Filter to estimate the position and velocity of the vehicles in order to correctly predict traffic congestion in every route.
Acceleration is calculated using the present and previous two instances of position of the vehicle which improves the accuracy of the prediction.
Finally acceleration and distance relation is used to predict the future position of the vehicle.
Result shows significant improvement in terms of average end-to-end delay, and packet delivery ratio, which are two main factors in VANET.
