Experience
Internship in Next Ventures: Petrochemical Model Fall 2014 - Summer 2015 Next Ventures, 812 Memorial Drive, Cambridge, MA
Worked on design, analysis and optimization of petrochemical plants and evaluated if it is economically feasible for venture capital firms to invest.
The company is a start-up venture capital firm looking to invest in petrochemical/renewable energy industry. The internship is still a work in progress, and will last until at least December 2014. Design Project: iPad Application for Cornell Chemical Engineering Labs Fall 2013 - Summer 2014 Chemical and Bio-molecular Engineering Department, Cornell University, Ithaca, NY
Started an iPad application development simulating bio-reactor process, responsible for the back-end data access layer(with Core-data, XML, SBML) and the model layer object/ class design.
The application requires modeling of bio-reaction and translating its corresponding models into computer languages(Objective-C) and architecture(MVC).
Began working on this project as a full-time student, then became a visiting scientist/voluntary researcher on the same project after graduation until August 2014. Design Project: Coal-bed Methane(CBM) Industry
Chemical and Bio-molecular Engineering Department, Cornell University, Ithaca, NY Spring 2013
Investigated the current state of CBM industry, with thorough technical background study and comparison with the Conventional Gas and the booming Shale-gas Industry.
Evaluated the potential of CBM development in other parts of the world, with a detailed case-study on China's CBM industry, which has a lot more reserves available than CBM in US.
Conducted research on new technology regarding CBM such as Bio-methanogenesis and Simultaneous CBM extraction with CO2 sequestration.
Term Project: Solar Power Rankine Cycle System Design Fall 2012 Chemical and Bio-molecular Engineering Department, Cornell University, Ithaca, NY
Analyzed the maximum potential for a Solar power rankine cycle, determined the best appropriate process flow diagram/design for the system and its maximum possible efficiency.
Completed a case-study on a feasible Solar-Rankine Plant in University of Colorado, with considerations of location, weather, economics, and cultural/social impacts. Internship in China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) Summer 2012 Process Engineering Department, CNPC Kunlun Engineering Co, East Zengguang Road, Beijing
Designed chemical plant processes for Light Gas Separation and Paraffin-Aromatics Extraction using Engineering Calculation and Aspen Plus Simulation software.
Participated in group discussion(10 participants), improved working and communication skills in the processes.
Chemical Plant Process Design Fall 2011 - Spring 2012 Chemical Engineering Department, Lehigh University, Bethlehem, PA
Performed steady state design on Butane-Isomerization Plant using Aspen Plus, with detailed economics evaluation and safety analysis. Plant was optimized by the end of Fall 2011.
Completed plant-wide control analysis on Butane-Isomerization Plant with Aspen Dynamics, the plant was re-optimized with new design parameters. Undergraduate Research Experience Summer 2009 - Spring 2012 Chemical Engineering Department, Lehigh University, Bethlehem, PA
Researched in Solar Thermal Energy, mostly regarding its storage method with Phase Change Materials(zinc & molten salt). Research report was composed at the end of 2009 Fall Semester.
Conducted individual Research on CPU Cooler, modeled and analyzed its heat transfer effect on computer chips. Final design and report were completed in Spring 2012. Other Start-up Company Ice-Tech(Integrated CPU Cooling) Business Project Spring 2013 Experience Johnson School of Management, Cornell University, Ithaca, NY
Worked on a business plan proposal for our start-up firm called Ice-Tech, which specializes in integrated cooling on tiny CPU chips, mostly on laptops. Mitigated strategies such as partnership with Intel, I worked extensively on the financial estimation/management of the high-tech company.
The project was highly recognized by the professors and industrial consultants, and as a result a written copy of business plan is displayed on Cornell Johnson School's library as examples for students working on future high-tech startup firm projects. Volunteer of International Student Orientation Summer 2011 OISS Department, Lehigh University, Bethlehem, PA
Helped with preparation for International Student Orientation, including the Welcome Dinner and Target Trip.
Internship in Air-China Group, Operation Control Department Winter 2011 Beijing Capital International Airport, Beijing, 100521
Learned the basics of airline scheduling/optimization and worked with experienced operation control staff on how to handle unexpected events regarding flight delays and rescheduling.
