I would like to apply for the Mechanical engineering bursary at Haw & Inglis company.

I was previously employed as a mechanical engineering technician with Eskom Koeberg Nuclear power station, specializing in the maintenance of the Reactor pressure vessel system. I have held positions of increasing responsibility in my work. Over my five years of exploring and knowledge with great experience, I have honed my teamwork skills and ability to adapt.

The use of my technical and leadership skills on a daily basis has given me a solid scientific background on my time with eskom, which I would like to harness for your group and its projects.

I have the required qualifications and motivation courses that I did with the team tghat would also set as a motivation of the position. With my leadership skills and abilities like preventative measure, planning, safety adherence, etc, i believe it would be for the best to be considered for the position.

My personal attributes include excellent communication skills with the ability to maintain a good relationship with co-workers and management, being self-motivated, hard working and possessing the ability to maintain a good attitude when working under pressure due to tight deadlines. They also include strong analytical, problemsolving and quantitative skills.

Job Description: Updating and developing procedures, assisting with Preparation of work orders (Job Cards) for maintenance and repairs of equipments such as Reactor head removal and installation, Pumps, Valves, Boilers, Diesel Generators, Heat Exchangers, diesel engines & separators, running inspections on running units, maintenance of gear boxes and their routine lubrication, performing pumps & motors performance tests. Maintenance of mechanical primary systems: cranes, Hoist replacements, load testing, relay replacements, Penstock seal replacements, pressure testing of seals for leaks, seal replacements on reactor coolant pumps.

Refuelling Shutdown: Maintenance of Reactor: Reactor head removal and installation, Unlatching and latching of the control rods, removal/installation of upper and lower internals. Removal/installation of the reactor studs using the Klockner (MST), and the inspection of the reactor vessel using a FOSAR (Foreign Objects camera).Unloading and reloading fuelelements. Alignment of the pump and the motor, balancing the motor and the pump, performing test-run on the motor’s lift pumps, replacing the shock absorbers of the 6.6KV Motor, motor conservation tests, general inspections on the motor and pump condition. Re-coupling the motor and the pump, vibrations and balancing checks on motor and pump, deflection tests and test runs to check the pump’s performance.

Finally the Commissioning of the pump
