Emergency nursing duties and certifications include: Triage of the emergency patient and physical assessment. Taking histories including the psychiatric and pediatric patient. Cleaning and dressing most type of wounds and injuries including burns and fractures. Phlebotomy and IV insertion and blood transfusions. Foley catheter insertion and irrigation and bladder scanning. Use of central lines. Taking EKG’s and nursing interpretation. Basic and advanced CPR with use of electric shock and pacing. I passed a course from the Michigan State University college of nursing on Clinical Research monitoring and coordination and then I was part of conducting a clinical trial which included informed concent, documentation, protocol signatures, subject testing for cognition including MMSE, ADAS-Cog, CDRS. I used electronic medical records (cerner) and also Alscripts. Also attended hippa compliance training and clinical site coordinator workshop.

Emergency Staff nurse duties:

Provided care for all aged patients suffering from trauma, acute chest pain, respiratory failure, drug overdose, gastrointestinal bleeds. Acquired and recorded information on electronic medical records. I Prepared patients for surgical and radiological procedures. Initiated and maintained intravenous therapy and blood transfusions per hospital protocol. Monitored cardiac rhythms and performed EKG’s. Assisted in transporting patients to facilities outside our hospital. I accompanied critical patients en route to outside facilities.
