Topic : THE EFFECT OF INTERFACE GEOMETRY IN FRICTION STIR
WELDING/PROCESSING .
Objective : The investigation of metal flows at an angle in the interface of base metal during friction stir welding with SEM.
Description: Friction stir welding (FSW), a solid state joining technique, widely used for welding of aluminum, magnesium, copper and titanium alloys, which finds applications in Aerospace and automotive sectors.Being a various advantage like low distortion, absence of melt-related defects, high joint strength, etc., as compared to other conventional fusion welding technique. A brief overview of the friction stir welding process and recent developments are presented in this work. Experimental technique has been developed to allow the investigation of metal flows at an angle in the interface during friction stir welding. The techniques are based on the use of marker material at the interface join of base metal that is redistributed during welding. Analysis of metal flows in Friction stir welding with help of SEM
