Professional Duties and Responsibilities

In my most recent position as Lead Transcriptionist, I worked closely with the transcription

supervisor to manage and maintain our team of 12 transcriptionists. I handled ingoing and

outgoing requests from physicians, hospitals and clinics, providing information necessary for

patient files and records while remaining in compliance with HIPAA regulations. I provided

quality assurance for the team to achieve our goal of 99.5% accuracy in all reports including

patient procedure, medical history, physicals, diagnostic workups, admission and discharge

summaries, surgical, consultations, pathology and clinical notes. These reports were completed

using verbally dictated data from the physicians or their staff, medical dictionaries, drug

references, and other sources on anatomy, physiology and medicine, both printed and online.

Another aspect of my job included maintaining records on continuing education for the

transcription team, completing staff scheduling and conducting weekly staff meetings with the

team and reporting updates and information to my supervisors. Superior communication skills

allowed me to communicate in writing or by phone effectively and efficently with team

members, physicians and supervisors in a professional manner.
