PROFESSIONAL EMPLOYMENT HISTORY

July 2002 to November 2014 ? Regional Claims Counsel (TX, OK, AR, LA) as land-title insurance claims examiner, investigator, coverage analyst and litigation manager for Stewart Title Guaranty Company with emphasis on the strategic analysis and resolution of complex residential and commercial real estate transactions, dispute resolution of issues relating to ownership of real property and associated rights and interests (e.g., land usage, boundary disputes, oil & gas, near surface minerals, easements, deed and HOA restrictions, land covenants, encumbrances), and the investigation, examination, legal research, negotiation, resolution and/or denial by coverage opinion letter of title claims submitted by policy-holders under owners and mortgagee policies of land title insurance. Assigned duties included the interviewing, engagement and monitoring of activities conducted by independent counsel retained to represent policy-holders (litigation management), including certain assigned direct litigation matters filed against the Company; attendance at mediations (or arbitrations) when agreed or directed by the Court; and the occasional giving of expert and/or fact witness testimony, or when designated as a person having knowledge of relevant facts in response to discovery. Extensive policy liability analysis with corresponding establishment of prudent reserve as required by regulations promulgated by the Texas Department of Insurance (TDI) including responding to allegations of claims handling improprieties submitted by insureds through TDI. Well-developed effective negotiating and leadership skills. Extensive multi-year land-title examination experience. Periodic educational speaker for Company webinar presentations.

November 1994 to July 2002 - General civil trial law (sole practitioner) with emphasis in commercial and residential real property litigation (primarily land usage and nuisance litigation), construction law, oil & gas land title examination experience authoring original, division order and/or supplemental title opinions in forty-seven (47) Texas counties, including extensive project experience in leasehold/mineral acquisitions and 3-D seismic permit/project administration (Barnett Shale, Texas Gulf Coast, Lower Rio Grande Valley and Austin Chalk).

June 1990 to October 1994 - Partner/shareholder in AV-rated law firm f/k/a Murphy, Moore & Bell, Inc., n/k/a Griffith, Jay & Michel, LLP, 2200 Forest Park Blvd, Fort Worth, TX 76110, 817-***-**** (contact William ?Bill? General civil trial law as first-chair litigator with emphasis in insurance related litigation (property and casualty defense, premise liability, coverage question), construction litigation, general civil trial law. Duties included supervision of case assignments to associate attorneys including the management/administration of associate lawyers, law-firm personnel and the day-to-day operation of Title Company owned and operated by law-firm.

July 1983 to May 1990 - General civil trial law (sole practitioner) with emphasis in commercial and residential real estate and oil & gas related litigation, oil & gas land title examination, securities law (due diligence, drafting, preparation of private placement memoranda required by Federal regulations governing public offerings/investments for oil & gas clients), and general civil trial law.

August 1980 to June 1983 - Attorney/Land Manager, Moncrief Oil Company, Moncrief Building, 950 Commerce Street, Fort Worth, TX 76102, 817-***-****. Managed Land Department for oil & gas exploration and development activities (TX, OK, LA, WY and CO) including extensive mineral and leasehold acquisition buying programs and management of joint venture partner interests in targeted areas of interest.

Crawford, M.D. Nurse paralegal, consultant and expert witness for several North Texas attorneys. Special interests include music, reading and creative writing (literary & musical).
