CIVIL ENGINEER
Recent graduate and soon-to-be Engineer in Training (EIT) who has vast knowledge and experience in working in various civil engineering fields. Great insight in engineering theories and principles as well as specifications and standards. Ability and competency in working with an engineering design from an initial conceptual phase to feasibility studies and final detailed plans and calculations. Proficient user of AutoCAD (Civil 3D), Arc GIS, SAP2000 and many other engineering programs.
EDUCATION
University of Puerto Rico-Mayaguez Campus, Mayagüez, PR
Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, May 2015, GPA: 2.84/4.00
Engineer in Training Certification (EIT): will be taken on November 2015
Activities: Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers member (Aug.2014 – Present), American Society of Civil Engineers member (Aug.2012 - Aug.2013)
WORK EXPERIENCE
University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez, PR
Capstone Project–Water and Environmental Design Engineer January 2015 - May 2015
Planned, analyzed and designed the hydrologic and hydraulic aspects of an open-ended urban development project while having considered favorable social, environmental and economical aspects which set the project apart from any other
Revised the existent property provided and created an environmental impact analysis which made the project a positive, eco-friendly one
Evaluated the existent potable and sanitary water systems and designed new ones with the use of EPANET while staying in compliance with the norms and guidelines established by the Puerto Rico Aqueduct and Sewer Authority
Designed efficient roof and surface runoff drainage systems, storm water systems, pump water systems, reservoir tank, and channels
Performed meticulous and detail-oriented calculations, drawings, plan and profile views in AutoCAD Civil 3D of each water system that was designed
Delivered a written and oral monthly progress of all the design aspects, feasibility, cost efficiency, and attributes the project had to a panel of colleagues in a professional and straightforward manner

Project Analyzer of Forces Acting Upon a Structure Sample May 2014 - June 2014
Evaluated forces acting upon a structure sample and analyzed and calculated dead loads, live loads, earthquake and wind loads using SAP2000
Constructed figures in SAP2000, simulating the structure model, with the applied loads, member sections and additional features to enhance visuals and clarity
Attained maximum horizontal displacement and its location on the structure as well as the load case which produced it
Retreived maximum and minimum moments and shears in beams and their location at each member as well as the load combination which produced it
Submitted a structural analysis report along with deformation sample drawings of the affected structure in order to prevent possibility of structural failure or strictly control it
University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez, PR
Constructor of "Bridge in Balsa Wood" Competition November 2013 - November 2013
Developed an efficient, unique and resistant design for a cost-effective bridge using the materials provided by the organizers
Achieved all of the criteria and maximum/minimum measures which was established by the ASCE association for the competition
Placed 5th overall among 20 other participating groups and analyzed the results given after the submission of the bridge to maximum loads
University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez, PR
Design Engineer in Highway Location and Curve Design Project August 2013 - November 2013
Originated a cost efficient road linking a rural street to a highway section utilizing the AutoCAD Civil 3D program
Utilized Google Earth, Google Maps, MIPR, “Puerto Rico Interactivo” and USGS websites to evaluate the topography, hydrological sources and geology of the landscape area where the road was going to pass through
Developed horizontal and vertical alignment components and performed computations to determine elements of circular curves, and with it created a blueprint (map) and a summarizing report stating the plausibility, distance, cost and time-friendly feasibility of the roadway
University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez, PR
Land Surveyor of a College Topographic Project August 2011 - May 2012
Defined and delineated the forested area of study and created stations to obtain a polygonal working area
Established vertical and horizontal controls for accuracy in defining locations, performed tachymetry, measured slope distances (vertically and horizontally), examined differences in elevations and leveled the terrain
Created a topographic map of all the points in the terrain and their elevations using AutoCAD Civil 3D
