To Whom It May Concern:

I am writing you in response to your Project Engineer (Flat Glass / Container Glass) position as listed on www.postjobfree.com.

Over the past 14 years I have been served an integral role in several successful projects in the Flat Glass industry. They include:

Design, procurement, and site supervision of 14 Float Bath Furnaces: These turnkey systems are located throughout Asia and Europe. Production parameters are 0.5mm to 25mm thick and 60 to 1200 TPD.

Design, procurement, and site supervision of 7 Float Bath Coating Lines: These turnkey On-line Pyrolytic Chemical Vapor Deposition systems (CVD) produce high Low-E, Reflective, Solar Control, Photovoltaic, and Self Cleaning glass for local markets throughout the United States, Asia and Russia. These were the first coating projects for our company.

Design, procurement, and site supervision of 2 Lehr Coating Lines: These coaters were retrofitted into existing facilities located in the Republic of Dagestan and produce high quality export grade Low-E. They were the first Lehr Coating projects for our company.

Design of 3 Float Facilities: These Float Facilities are located in Mexico, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan and design parameters included everything from sand processing to glass processing.

Design integration of a Bottling Facility into a Float Facility: The first of our company.

I am interested in continuing my career in the glass industry and would like to help you in any way possible. Thank you for taking the time to review my resume. I look forward to hearing from you in the future.

Best regards,

John Quinn

Perform employee interviews and provide hiring analysis. Develop Scope of Works and Project Specifications. Issue projects to team members. Provide sketches, mark-ups and ideas to team members for conceptual purposes. Report to President.

•Overhauled the Mechanical Engineering and Design department. Made key hires and terminations that resulted in 50% schedule reductions during first year and 10% each year after.

•Developed and led student intern program with Kettering University (Flint, MI). This program has allowed the company to complete projects faster while reducing labor cost.

•Led team of engineers in advancement of critical float bath components; Canal, Spout, Dross Box, Top Rollers, Bottom Block, Casings and Side Seals. Two float facilities are currently under construction using these new designs.

•Led team of engineers for design of a Lehr Coater. Developed design from the Board of Directors specifications. Worked with industry leading Annealing Lehr providers to design a seamless integration. Equipment included process skids, support steel, transportation devices, coater, and other ancillary equipment.

•Served as project manager for the build of the first two Lehr Coaters. I selected the fabricators, provided consultation to build team, and performed final acceptance testing. These two coaters are currently producing high quality Low-E glass in the Russian Federation.

•Led team of engineers for the design of a full ribbon rail cooler. This over-head design is capable of being inserted from either end in either the wide end or narrow end of a float bath.

•Created technical and financial feasibility reports. Collaborated with preferred suppliers for material selection and fabrication technique. This detailed process, determined if the clients concepts could be made reality.

•Reviewed and Released for Build completed projects ranging from $25,000 to $2,000,000. My eye for details has assured the Board of Directors that projects will be completed properly with no change orders. Had company approval for negotiating and signing contracts.

•Developed accurate project schedules with detailed milestones. Worked with suppliers to determine delivery times of critical components.

•Assigned team members to projects that aided in individual development and still provided efficient solutions. This created an energetic workplace with team members that can fill multiple roles.

•Served as direct point of contact for Site Management and clients. My ability to quickly provide solutions to daily questions, has created lasting relationships with clients from all over the world.

•Provide feedback and mentor employees while conducting Performance Reviews.

2011-2012, Design Manager

Lead Mechanical Design team. Red-line drawings for team members to complete. Monitor design uniformity and completeness. Confirm Pro-E and SolidWorks models are per Company Standards. Track Project status and provide feedback to Board of Directors. Write and inforce company standards. Report to Engineering Manager.

•Designed facility layouts for two independent float lines. Site conditions required integration of everything from sand treatment, to living quarters. These facilities are currently under construction per my design.

•Wrote Standards for Operations and Design. The entire company of 30+ professionals are currently using these Standards.

•Served role of PTC Windchill Workgroup Manager. Integrated Windchill with Creo, SolidWorks, and AutoCAD to eliminate the risk of accidental or malicious file deletion.

•Developed company file numbering and naming procedure. My standardization has made it easy to find files created by other team members.

•Developed Standard Parts Library on Windchill. Set standard for numbering, naming, and saving. Having a library of standard parts, has reduced design time by at least 30%.

•Interfaced with suppliers and clients to establish requirements and expectations. Issue Request for Quotes, Purchase Orders, and Change Orders.

•Researched ANSI, AWS, ISO, and industry-approved ways to design. Incorporated these into the Company Standards.

Stewart Engineers, Flat Rock, MI
