Project Trainee at Supra Pharmaceuticals PVT LTD, Hyderabad. (October 2010 to March
2011)
Project Title: Preparation and IN VITRO evaluation of Hydro dynamically balanced drug
delivery system of VERAPAMIL HCl.
Description: The project is aimed to prepare and evaluate the floating tablets of verapamil HCl
using an effervescent approach for gastro retentive drug delivery system. Floating tablets were
prepared using directly compressible method using natural polymers Sodium alginate and
Xanthan gum for their gel-forming properties. The different ratios of Sodium alginate and
Xanthan gum were evaluated. It was concluded that polymer viscosity had major influence on
drug release from hydrophilic matrix tablets as well as on floating lag time.
