PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

I am experienced in the following aspects and my present employment as

Senior Technologist/ In-charge includes:

A. SAMPLE ACCESSIONING: To receive samples-both Histopathology and

Cytology, and give instructions regarding collection if required. I am

proficient in the use of computers in laboratory information systems.

B. HISTOPATHOLOGY

1. Grossing: arrange, number cassettes and assist during grossing,

2. Processing of Histopathology samples, embedding, sectioning.

3. Routine Hematoxylin and Eosin staining, mounting, labeling and slide

submission.

4. Special Stains (commonly used are PAS, PASD, Ziehl Neelsen, Masson

trichrome, Reticulin,

FVG, GMS, Alcian Blue, Perls, mucicarmine, etc.,)

5. Choosing and maintaining appropriate control tissues/sections for

stains.

6. Immunohistochemistry

7. Immunofluorescence for kidney biopsies

8. Frozen section - Sectioning and staining.

9. Checking the quality of sections and stains and take corrective

measures.

10. Preparation of reagents, solutions and stains

C. CYTOPATHOLOGY

1. Smear and cell block preparations.

2. To attend fine needle aspiration procedures to make smears

F. ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES

1. Indent for chemicals / equipments in consultation with pathologist.

2. Approve leave preliminary to pathologist approval for junior

technicians.

3. Bring technical and equipment problems and losses to the notice of the

pathologist.

4. Prepare duty roster for technicians.

5. Prepare monthly statistics

G. TRAINING AND CME

1. Training of junior technicians.

2. Attending and presenting at the weekly Departmental CME.

3. Organizing workshops.

I am in charge of seeing that the documentation requirements are met as per

regulations of the National Accreditation Board for Laboratories, under the

1. Worked as a Laboratory manager cum Senior Histopathology Technician at

Ashka Laboratory, 7th Cross Thillainagar, Trichy, Tamilnadu, India, from

April 2008 to November 2008. This is a standalone laboratory receiving

samples from hospitals in the region.

2. Worked as a Senior Histopathology Technician from June 2002 to March

2008 at the laboratory of the Apollo Hospital (Lanka Hospital Corporation)

in Colombo, Srilanka

3. Worked as a Histopathology Technician from 1997 to 2002 at Seahorse

Hospital in Trichy, India. This is a 250 bedded super specialty hospital.
