Coordinated the relocation of the Chemistry department from Physical Sciences
ACCOMPLISHME
Building to the new Chemistry & Computer Science Building
NTS
Assisted in maintaining compliance in the labs according to the regulatory standards
through lab inspections, air pressure testing, fumehood air flow testing, eye wash and
shower testing, and chemical waste collection and retrieval
Help reduce the Chemistry department equipment inventory overhead from $1.1
million to $700K by keeping a running inventory throughout the fiscal year
Repaired and maintained department equipment such as UV Vis, FT IR, LC MS,
Spectrometer, spectrophotometers, and DSC that were used in the teaching labs
Contributed to the published article, “A Soil Moisture Point for Mature Pecan to
Maintain Health Growth,” authored by Nicole Kyger; soil data such as temperature,
moisture content, and EC was collected and entered into a database using ECHO
Moisturing Measuring system that measured these characteristics at a 15min interval.
Data was used to propose an irrigation schedule while maximizing the limited water
resource.

COORDINATOR I – LAB & RESEARCH, UTEP
PROFESSIONAL
EXPERIENCE AUGUST 2009 PRESENT
Coordinate department activities and needs with other departments on campus such
Facilities, IT, Purchasing, EH&S, and Accounts Payable and outside vendors and
visitors; Coordination involved with waste collection and preparation for EH&S,
creation of Purchase orders for department purchases usually greater than $25K,
collecting and routing invoices to Account Payable, Ordering and receiving chemicals,
creating MSDS notebooks for department labs, assisted EH&S in lab inspections,
assist in the investigating and assessing minor lab incidents, eye wash and shower
testing, measuring for positive room pressure, measuring flow hood air flows,
investigating problems in the labs i.e. gas cylinders, inoperable equipment. Repaired
and maintained lower end chemistry equipment such UV Vis, IR, spectrometers such
as LC MS, and DSC that were used in the teaching labs. Delivered purchased items
received in central receiving. Occasionally taught faculty and students on using
department equipment. Served as point of contact for any invoice problems with
outside vendors. Served as department representative in meetings involved with the
relocation of the chemistry department to the new building. Served as point of contact
for any building issues affecting the chemistry department such power outages, and
water leaks.
TECHNICIAN I, TEXAS A&M AGRILIFE RESEARCH CENTER
APRIL 2008 – AUGUST 2009
Responsible for field data collection and compilation of water and soil samples; run
permeability tests, and infiltration tests; Collected water samples for chemical
analyses along Rio Grande River and throughout El Paso County; Measured canal
and drainage water flow rates with Flow Tracker and River Surveyor; Collected soil
samples of varying depths to measure EC, Moisture content, and pH; Downloaded
soil data such EC, soil moisture, and temperature on Tony Rancic's pecan farm; after
download, the data was compiled together into a spreadsheet to graphically illustrate
the water profile. Once a month, the water table on the pecan farm was measured and
entered into a spreadsheet to show current water levels; Using soil data collecting
system from Decagon, a simple soil data measurement was set up for a cotton farm in
Ft Hancock. Soil moisture and EC was collected and compiled to assist the farmer
with irrigation schedule; perform chemical analysis of water and soil sample using the
IC and ICP measuring for ion concentration.
