ACADEMIC PROJECTS
Classification & Modeling of Electroencephalogram (EEG) Signals Fall 2013
Developed an algorithm to classify event related potentials of motor imagery data using Linear
Discriminate Models (LDMs), Local Level Model (LLM) and Support Vector Machine (SVM).
MATLAB was used for the classification, modeling and final presentation of data.
Created vectors of both mean and variance from the given 20 learning trials. Optimized parameters
and classified the new data into new classes using SVM algorithm on the training data.
Digital instrume nt for Venous Muscle Pump Test Spring 2012
Instrument was designed to measure Venous Refilling Time (VRT), Muscle Pump Capacity (MPC)
and Pulse Rate during a Venous Muscle Pump Test (VMPT).
Signal proportional to the blood volume changes was acquired and processed usi ng an IR sensor (IR
LED and IR Photodiode) and PIC16F877A- a microcontroller based digital controller unit for data
acquisition and processing.
Programmed the microcontroller in C (and mikroC) and displayed results on 16x2 LCD .
Stress Meter for the Human Body Fall 2010
A working model of a stress meter which detects stress levels using skin resistance measured by touch
pads placed on human body.
Obtained variable voltage outputs based on the skin's conductivity using an IC CA3 140 (IC1), a
resistance- to- voltage converter. Generated logarithmic output through LED indications using IC
LM3915 (IC2).
EXPERIENCE
Aug 2014 – Present
Visiting Researche r, Boston University
Design and develop a hardware and software system t hat provides a case- specific, accurate trajectory
to the lateral ventricles for EVD catheter placement, especially in patients with abnormal brain
anatomy, in an ICU setting.
Collected, analyzed and, summarized the data from CT scans using RadiAnt DICOM viewer. The
location of foramen of monro o f patients with abnormal brain anatomies was determined.
April – Jun 2014
Research Intern, Northeastern Unive rsity
Investigating neural correlates o f the speech envelope in competing talker conditions of listening
using EEG.
Worked on spectral shaping of audio signals to provide sufficient gain for the hearing impaired
population.
Collected, analyzed and, s ummarized the behavioral and EEG data using t he M ATLAB interface.
Jun – Dec 2013
Lab Assistant, Boston University
Responsible for Electronics Lab equipment.
In charge of Under- Grad students’ lab needs, this ranged from building circuits to scope set ups to
reviewing lab results.
In charge o f faulty instruments’ repair and sale of electronic parts in the lab.
Jun – Aug 2012
Tutor, Vikasa Vidya Vana m
Taught Science and Math to high school kids of grades 7, 8 and 9.
Motivated them and guided them through various practical assignments, tests and projects.
Jun – Nov 2011
Clinical Intern, Ganga Medical Cente r
Investigated various medical devices from different departments of a multi- specialized hospital
including Intensive Care Unit, Operation Theatre and Radiology Department.
Had direct hands- on use of various medical devices such as X- ray, EEG, ECG, CT, MRI, Pulse
Oximeter, and Spirometer.
Research I ntern, Efftronics May 2010
Worked in the R&D department where my primary focus was on the designing and testing of diverse
interfaces and applications from conceptualization to first stage implementation.
Successfully completed assignments on designing and testing the LED lights which are prominently
used in traffic signal lights.
