PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE
BNY Mellon, New York, NY 1992 - 2010
Vice President, Controller
Reported to the CFO and Budgeting Director with primary financial
responsibilities for multiple subsidiaries with $8B or greater in assets.
Directed teams up to 60 financial professionals in various roles. Managed
financial operations including budgeting, forecasting accounts payable /
fixed assets, analysis and reporting to Directors and Senior Management.
Partnered with tax and compliance departments to ensure regulatory
compliance and effective financial strategies to optimize tax position.
. Directed accounting activities of the network of management units within
the subsidiaries enhancing existing subsystems and implementing new
effective, efficient systems. Conducted "Top-down" and "Bottom-up"
budgeting and analysis to ensure accuracy and compliance.
. Charged to identify and assign responsibility for resolving discrepancies
and maintaining future transactions for all subsidiaries with outstanding
balances of millions of dollars. Assigned reconciliation / clearing
responsibility to positions within business units as focal points for
external / internal auditors to sample throughout all relevant corporate
entities. Generated a process that implemented stronger controls over
Inter-company transactions and spot assets and liabilities. This led to
accurate balance sheets, reduced inflated numbers.
. In wake of economic turmoil and dropping interest rates, created a
process for company subsidiary, Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT), to
buy mortgage assets from one of our banks.Hypothecate them and as a
result, the bank kept the client relationship, and REIT received mortgage
interest of $10.4M and tax benefits of $858K.
. Assigned by CFO and external consultants to serve on team establishing
controls for insuring accuracy in SEC financial reporting within Other
Asset and Other Liability accounts with both "Sox" and external audit
issues in 2008. Matrix of companies, accounts and management units had
exposure of 11,000 "units", with balance sheet exposure in billions of
dollars. Team instituted strong procedures and controls to complement
monthly "Proving & Aging" process, leading to 98% compliance and

utilization of NYS tax credits. This created multiple NYS tax benefits
on the order of hundreds of millions of dollars since inception.

options and account locations within Corporation Reporting structure.
Manual aided both annual and monthly budget reviews, as well as other
analytical reports required by Senior Management. This saved significant
time in reconciling business unit account line balances.

Audit covering an extended time period and encompassing various
acquisitions. Reduced tax and penalty exposure dramatically.
. Assigned by senior management to utilize financial data in price setting,
productivity and performance measurement, product profitability and other
