EXPERIENCE:
Photometric Technician – ATA Labs Houston TX: 3/12 2/14 ISO 17025 NVLAP Lab Code: 201019-0
certified Technician. Performed electrical, mechanical, thermal, and optical tests under varied
environmental conditions, in accordance to various testing standards (UL1598,LM-79,LM-80,et al). I
became proficient in the use of the Goniophotometer, Lab-Sphere LMS-760 Integrated Sphere through
self-studies. I assisted in developing the lab to achieve NALAP certification including writing the SOP for
the Integrated Sphere, Mobile Thermal station and Electrical station. I ordered all Lab supplies and Test
equipment. I worked with engineering and lab personal in solving proof of concept validation issues,
compliance to standards, and assisting in developing research and component validation roadmaps. I
assisted in the implementation of Qual-Treck to generate Lab reports and total document control. I am a
certified operator on the Mars M3 5/8” to 2” Water Meter Testing platform.
Residential Construction - KT Services, Magnolia TX; 2/10-3/12 on a PRN basis
I performed a variety of demolition on homes in preparation for remodeling which included removal of
windows, sheetrock, floors, bathroom fixtures and lighting fixtures. My duties also included the cleaning
and preparation for the homeowner to move in. Plumbing Electrical and concert work.
Electro-Mechanical Thermal Design Technician - Hewlett Packard, Houston TX; 4/10/97 - 9/25/09
I constructed prototype ML and DL Thermal Server Mock Ups from verbal direction and Pro E models.
My server models were constructed from parts and metals from previous server chassis. I did all the metal
works in lab utilizing, nomadic saws, band saw, spot welders, milling machine, brake press, belt and hand
sanders. For fabrications that I did not have the machines or material to build I was able to utilize the
model shop to build from my designs such as modifying heat sinks and stainless works. The models were
constructed with thermal slugs to emulate end of platform life for the Processors, Hard Drives, Chip sets,
dual processor video cards, extended Memory Cards and Thermal interface materials. I used these
Thermal Mock- ups to qualify various Fan vendors as per HP Specifications. I did individual fan and
system impedance curve testing including PWM, PID validation and wattage use. Part of the Fan
validation I constructed various air baffles and air dams to maximize thermal system performance. My
models were used to validate HP acoustical specifications. I was also responsible for cable lay out to
minimize air flow impedance. During this construction phase I thermally qualified the end of platform
life Intel and AMD processors, Memory DIMM, s and Hard Drives. All Thermal questioned areas where
Thermal Coupled with J or K type thermal couples. The data collected from the Fluke and Agilent Data
loggers was imported into Excel format and made available to the entire design team. This Empirical data
was used to tune the CFD Pro E Thermal Models. I did mechanical form, fit and function prior to first
build of servers. During first build I assisted the Factory with cable layout. After first build the prototype
server is thermally coupled and wired to monitor wattage usage. Prior to testing I installed the OS, all
ROM up dates, work around utilities and Thermal stress utilities. I first thermally stressed test the unit on
the bench and then test the unit individually and in the Full Rack mode inside the Environmental
Chamber. The data I collected was used to set the Thermal Trip points. I have supported outside sales at
customer sites. I supported Server Thermal and Mechanical issues from cradle to grave. I tested,
debugged and troubleshot new HP products and existing equipment to the component level utilizing data
analyzers, DVM meters, Fluke thermal laser, Fluke thermal cameras, and Oscilloscopes. I developed new
test programs/procedures as needed for new technologies. I supervised non-exempt employees, contract
workers, trained new employees, acclimated new engineers to HP lab practices. I was responsible for
maintaining the lab and ordering the necessary supplies. From one of my thermal analyses, I was able to
save HP $4 million by removing two fans from the DL320 platform. During my tenure at HP I was
awarded three US Thermal Patents.
Field Technician - Ramcon Environmental, Humble TX; 3/95 – 8/95 (Summer Position);
I performed Data Collection for Predictable Emissions Monitor Systems models which included
emissions stack Testing Methods 1-5 title five. My duties also included instrumentation upkeep, repair to
the component level and servicing the mobile laboratories. This position also required stack climbing.
These testing methods were in compliance with CFR60. I was required to calibrate test instrumentation
daily.
Field Service Engineer - Monitor Labs, Formerly Lear Siegler Measurement Controls Corporation,
Denver CO; 4/93 – 2/94 Telephone technical support. Factory trained on the RM41, LS541 and the
1100M opacity monitoring systems. Factory trained on the SM8100 and the SM8100A SO2, NO2 insitu
units which utilize second derivative spectroscopy. Field trained on the insitu type Zirconia Oxygen
Analyzer. All of these units can be configured to the UNICON 700 Universal Peripheral Control Unit.
Self Studies on the ML9830 CO analyzer, the ML9841 NO analyzer and the ML9850 SO2 analyzer. The
above analyzers are used to monitor gas emissions in compliance with USEPA regulations section
CFR60. Electronic trouble shooting and repair to the component level. My duties included customer site
repair stack climbing and calibration of test instrumentation.
Non-Destructive/Electromechanical Electronics Technician - Tex-Tube, Houston TX; 9/91 – 2/92 Install,
inspect and upgrade recently purchased prototype Ultra-Sonic inline computer controlled tubular
inspection system. I had direct interaction with in-house and N.D.T. Canada Co. Engineers. I developed
and implemented hardware, software and mechanical upgrades. I developed Ultra-Sonic systems factory
S.O.P., trained support personnel; maintained and calibrated factory inspection systems. I provided
Electrical, Mechanical, Electronic trouble shooting to the component level. I also doubled as a Shift Q.C.
