Work Experience
My time at UK hospitals has broadened my experience and provided me with good knowledge in
many specialities which was important in my practice as a family physician. I started my work as a
family physician working in a busy practice in Weymouth in the southwest of the UK.
In November 2010, I started working as a family physician in Vicarage Lane walk-in centre in
Stratford, east London. The centre provides high quality medical care in all ranges and levels of
health care to both registered and unregistered patients. The centre serves a varied population from
different ethnic backgrounds, cultures and languages which provided me with an interesting,
demanding and sometimes challenging variety of work. I saw an average of 40 patients daily and
managed a variety of clinical problems ranging from acute illnesses to chronic disease follow up,
arranging necessary investigations and acting on results as well as referral to secondary care as
appropriate.
Both Abbotsbury road and Vicarage lane surgeries used a paperless system. I used the computer to
keep consultation notes as well as checking the pathology and radiology results. I also used the
computer in my referrals. I enjoyed active participation in the monthly educational meetings in both
surgeries.
I worked for the South Western ambulance service from October 2004 to September 2011, doing
out-of-hours work on a regular basis. I did both telephone consultations and covered the local
treatment centre, which gave me a valuable chance to deal with patients in different circumstances
with limited information at my disposal and within time constraints.
I moved to the UAE in July 2012 to work as a Specialist family physician. I started a diabetic clinic
in Ajman medical complex which is the largest primary health care centre in Ajman besides doing
regular general clinics where I saw a variety of patients of all ages and different nationalities. As
well as diagnosing and treating acute illnesses and chronic disease management, I was providing
healthy lifestyle advice to my patients.
I was an active member in the CME committee in Ajman PHC where we organised a variety of
lectures, seminars including 1st family medicine symposium which attracted around 150 doctors. I
was regularly teaching fourth year medical students as part of their rotation in Primary health care
centres as well as trainee doctors.
In October 2013 I started working as a consultant family physician in a primary health care centre in
Abu Dhabi after obtaining the HAAD license. My timetable is varied between covering chronic
disease clinics (CDC), well woman clinic as well walk in clinics. In the CDC clinic I see patients
with diabetes, hypertension, asthma, COPD, dyslipaedmia as well as thyroid problems. In the walk
in clinic I see wide range of acute problems. The centre is paperless and all the consultations are
recorded on the computer as well as laboratory and radiology orders and results.
3
I am a motivated, hardworking and enthusiastic doctor with a wide range of experience in all fields
of family medicine and have been commended by my patients for my strong patient care. I am
fluent in spoken and written Arabic and English languages which was crucial in my work in the
UAE.
