ACADEMIC PROJECTS
Oct 2013 - Dec 2013
Power Plant Design Proposal to Compensate for Generation Retirement
This course project is about proposing a system design to compensate the loss of a generator while
keeping in mind the economic, social and environmental factor. Assisted in calculating the losses for
different scenarios using the power world software.
Jun 2014 - Aug 2014
Automation of a Factory Assembly Line Using PLC Programming
This PLC training course-project aims at automating an assembly line in a timber mill to control
various cutting and drilling. I implemented the logic behind the control flow, on PLC devices
manufactured by AB and Siemens PLC, using tools like SCADA and HMI’s.
Feb 2014 - May 2014
Residential Power Generation Using a Generator Isolated From Grid
The goal of this project is to independently supply residential load, isolated from the grid using a
diesel-powered generator. I designed the methodology, analyzed load estimation and performed
cost-analysis of the physical installation of the generator, and the potential of coupling with a wind
turbine for efficiency. I also studied green-house emissions to assess its impact on the environment.
Nov 2013 - Dec 2013
Advanced Energy Grid System Project
The project deals with variation of system parameters such as voltage, power, transformer windings
and observing the load flow of the system. Had the opportunity to perform the operation on one of
the scenario and plotted the output which helped gain valuable experience in power world software.
PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATION
Fundamentals of Engineering (FE): ELECTRICAL AND COMPUTER
Post Graduate Diploma in Industrial Automation (All Major PLC & SCADA) by Technocrat
Automation Solution PVT LTD, Chennai
Customized course on PC schematic
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Nov 2014 –Present
Electrical Engineering Intern
Globe Metallurgical, Niagara Falls, NY.
Assisted the engineering team of the company in solving various design problems and in
documenting the observations.
Experience with 115kV substation and high voltage transformers
Had the opportunity to learn various technologies and software such as rslogix 5000, AutoCAD and
Factory Talk.
Project Trainee Aug 2012 - Apr 2013
Brakes India Limited, Chennai, India.
Brake Pad Actuation Using Electro Magnetic Coils. Aim is to design a braking system that can be
actuated using the force created by a set of magnetic coil and to design a suitable control circuit to
operate the braking system.
Responsible for designing the magnetic coils in order to generate maximum flux density and also
aided in the design of the control circuit and wrote coding for the microcontroller.
In-plant Trainee Nov 2011 - Dec 2011
Lucas TVS, Chennai, India.
Studied the manufacturing process of various automobile electronic devices such as alternators and
starters along with their testing and operation
Had the opportunity to assemble different components and the test them for various industrial
standards.
