Dear sir/madam:
I am writing to express my interest in the position of Chief Financial
Officer for your fine organization. I believe that my unique combination of
financial/organizational skills gained as a senior executive of a national
company, coupled with my legal skills gained as an attorney, as well as my
leadership skills gained from the military will make me an ideal candidate
for the position. Rarely do you find a candidate that is dually qualified
as both a CPA and an Attorney (with an MBA) all in one package. In addition
to that unique educational background, I have an accomplished professional
career as well. In my corporate career, I have served as CFO, General
Counsel and Chief Auditor for various national entities. In those roles, I
had oversight responsibility for Accounting, Finance, Budgeting, Strategic
Planning, Legal, Audit, Information Technology, Deal Analysis and Human
Resources. Those responsibilities have uniquely prepared me for the CFO
role in your institution. Currently, I operate a specialized law and
accounting practice in NYC focusing on providing comprehensive professional
services to for-profit and not-for-profit entities and I serve as an
Associate Professor at Brooklyn College. As you review my background, you
will see evidence of major accomplishments at all prior employers.
I was formerly the Chief Financial Officer and General Counsel for
Candidates on Demand Group Inc. (CODGI), the largest subsidiary of publicly
traded company. In this role, I was responsible for all finance, accounting
and personnel issues for the company as well as the monitoring and
management of all legal proceedings filed against to CODGI. In my time at
CODGI, I worked on a number of major initiatives. A companywide cost
structure review was performed resulting in significant cost savings
related to manpower, office locations, IT infrastructure and back office
operations. A new accounting system was implemented which enhanced the
accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting. A new financing source was
identified resulting in six figure savings for CODGI. The company sponsored
401K plan was revamped to include a company match resulting in increased
employee participation. A Sarbanes-Oxley team was established to document
all key financial and operating controls. In addition, a first rate
management team has been put in place including CODGI's first technically
strong Controller and the company's first Human Resource Manager. In
addition, I was the responsible for leading internal preparations for all
regulatory reporting, external audits, annual budgets and expense and cash
flow management.
As General Counsel, I took the lead to address numerous lawsuits which were
dormant for some time before my arrival. Most were resolved favorably for
CODGI in terms of financial settlements. In addition, I successfully
resolved a collective action lawsuit which was filed against CODGI within a
few months of my arrival in 2007. As General Counsel, I was the point
person internally for determining strategic legal options as well as
selecting external counsel for specialized legal advice. Also, I was the
point person for performing internal due diligence for several potential
acquisition candidates. In that role, I drafted the Acquisition Agreements
and Joint Venture Agreements for two separate transactions which were
consummated.
In conclusion, I will like to restate my interest in the position noted
above. I believe that I can add value to your organization and I would
truly appreciate an opportunity to do so. In the near future, I would like
to meet with you to discuss how I can be a great asset to this fine
institution. Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
Andrew D. Walcott, Esq., CPA
