Experiments and P rojects
Cont rol System Expe riment: Simulation of Control systems
Used Simulink to construct the solution model of classic differential
equations;
Output the response curve in t ime domain.
Cont rol System Expe riment: Modeling DC Motor:
Apply Newton’s Law and Ki rchoff’s Law to the motor system based on the
electric circuit and got the differential equations for the system;
Transferred the equations into Laplace form and set corresponding blocks
to complete the model;
Similarly, completed the modeling by using SIMSCAPE.
Mechat ronics project: Lighting system of the robot car
Designed the wiring system to control the robot car steering and lighting;
Arranged the wires in two separate breadboards, one for controlling
d irection and the other one for controlling lighting;
Realized the function that the robot car back up a li ttle after encountering
obstacles and then made a turn, LEDs and LED bar would blink correspondingly.
Senior design project: Underbody shield
Received chassis data from HP Corporation for the purpose of designing a
u nderbody shield for one client of HP’s;
Used CATIA to design the shape and structure of shield based on the data
and compared multiple designing schemes to select the optimal one;
Built a wooden model according to the scale of 1:1 and made it molding;
Tested the acoustic properties of shield and the shield came out to be a
h ighly recognized work.
F EA Course P roject: B ridge design
Proposed a bridge model on the base of dimensional requirements and
designed the frame structure by using proper beams;
Modified the beam distributions and structure outline to find the optimal
scheme by calculating the loading efficiency, the result of mine was one of the
l argest in the class.
Based on the design, obtained the first 5 modes of the bridge.
F EA P roject: Gear Rack Stress Analysis
Simulated the process of gear rack mechanism;
Obtained stress distributions and contact pressures between gear and rack
for different rotation positions, also output the curve of “Torque on the spur gear
vs. Rack travelling”.
N onlinear F EA Course P roject: Tensile Specimen Analysis under
m onotonic loading
Processed the tensile test data, obtained Young’s Modulus and plastic
p roperties;
Built the model of specimen based on given dimensions and ran the
analysis, then compared with the results in test data;
The results perfectly matched with the test data.
Nonlinear F EA Course P roject: Fatigue Specimen Analysis under cyclic
l oading
Processed the cyclic test data, obtained material properties of hardening
p rocesses;
Built the model of fatigue specimen under cyclic loading and ran the
analysis, then compared with the test results;
The results came out to prove the test results, and my project was given
f ull marks by professor.
Vehicle thermal management project: I mp rovement of waste heat
r ecovery for H E V
Theoretically analyzed effect of different waste heat recovery cycles and
p roposed the best cycle;
Built model by using Simulink, calculated the efficiency of different cycles, then
t he cycle was proved to improve the utilization efficiency of exhaust gas.
