PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Yale University IT Department- Metrics & Quality Assurance Data Analyst

04/2013 - 01/2015

Principally responsible for IT service data extraction, extrapolation and

analysis through report design and data visualization. Although primarily

working within IT, my job required integration of interdepartmental data

(e.g. financial and HR) thus requiring the ability to work with outside

databases. Crucial to this job, was maintaining the balance of continual

service improvement to allow the various departments to satisfy the

customer's issues and questions more efficiently and cost-effectively while

maximizing customer satisfaction.

Data Extraction and Analysis Projects:

. Analyzed the user business requirements and existing organization

processes in order to create a uniform, cross-departmental tool to

consolidate, integrate and track productivity using Quickbase.

. Consulted and advised the IT Department Heads on the development of their

department-specific Quarterly Business Review (QBR) in one-on-one

consultations. A novel PowerPoint template was created in order to

achieve this process.

. Extracted Service-Now (SN) data into Excel by using pivot tables and

vlookups to create Monthly Process (Incident, Change, Service Request,

and Problem) Reports that, by department, display the volume of opened

and closed tickets and their average duration, in order to identify

trends in the data.

. Built SQL queries in Report Builder of data on Key Performance Indicators

(KPIs) for the Service Processes. These were then formatted and fed into

the Yale ITS website for global visibility.

. Controls and Business Process Questionnaire (CBPQ) Survey Reporting -

Created an automated template in Excel using vlookups to extract and

analyze Qualtrics Survey data thereby allowing for real time analysis and

action.

. Provided data extraction, analysis and coordination of the ITS QBR by

means of a trend report on the comparison of QBR Metrics from Fiscal Year

2011 to Fiscal Year 2014. This report also included a scorecard and a

display of the weighted KPIs comparing historical baseline, current and

target values and trend (predictive) analysis.

Process Improvement Projects:

. Led and trained both the Problem and Service Request Process Managers on

how to create ITIL Continual Service Improvement (CSI) Scorecards from

start to finish.

. Assisted in the design and implementation of the current Yale ITS Service

Metrics website by identifying other publicly- viewable University IT

Metrics websites and integrating the most successful and useful content

into the current Yale ITS Service Metrics page.

. Transitioned the software platform used by my department for internal

"departmental activities log" from a cumbersome Excel-based spreadsheet

into a user-friendly Quickbase application.

. Assisted the IT Helpdesk manager in localizing the cause and location of

mislabeled service tickets, thus enabling the manager to redirect

employees on proper ticket processing.

Peer Education Training:

Provided Training via leading live discussion sessions (e.g. Lunch & Learn,

workshop) and electronic publications (Knowledge articles) that were

available for members of the ITS department. Took the lead in curriculum

design with teaching methodologies rooted in the "adult education model."

. Lunch & Learn- "Service-Now Reporting capabilities": Led an

educational and interactive lecture on the utilization of software

used for IT ticketing.

. Knowledge article- Created a "Service Now (SN) Metrics and Reporting"

article.

. Knowledge article- Created an "IT Service Management (ITSM) Coach"

article.

. Led individual and group education sessions on the use of the

following software tools: Service-Now (SN), ITSM Coach, Metricus, and

Quickbase.

Hertz Corporation - Senior Actuarial Analyst

06/2005 - 06/2012

Projects:

. Actuarial Analysis - Fulfilled quarterly loss reserving and pricing

analyses of personal auto, workers comp, and equipment rental for US,

Canadian, and European business. Downloaded summarized reports through

the AS400 mainframe. Created SQL queries to reconcile the data and also

to obtain details down to the claim level, which was either analyzed

directly in SQL, or downloaded into an Excel format so that trends,

forecasting and any additional analysis can be done using pivot tables.

. Excel Template Creation - Streamlined the quarterly data reconciliation

and analysis process through Excel template creation. Worked with IT

department to produce monthly summary claim and loss reports in the AS400

claim system to be distributed by e-mail in an Excel format. Used

existing reports and created SQL queries to test these new reports for

accuracy. Once they went live, created Excel spreadsheets using both

vlookups and pivot tables that fed off of these reports in order to

obtain relevant data and summaries for both the loss reserving analysis

and for SOX audit compliance requirement.

. Merger of Rental Data Warehouse with Claim system - Led all aspects of

the integration of the rental system (Cognos) into an SQL library which

allowed for the merger of the rental data with the claim data, which was

already housed in an SQL library in the AS400. Facilitated requirements

gathering meetings and system requirements specifications with IT staff

in both Cognos and the AS400. Convinced both IT departments to move all

of the data into the AS400, and then ran the data in order to test for

accuracy.

. Contract Reports - Formulated customer reports by contract showing

revenue, cost, and profit per transaction day on both a net and gross

basis. The transaction day data was obtained from queries using the

Cognos Data Warehouse. The loss and claim data was obtained from SQL

queries. These files were both downloaded into Excel and linked together

first by summarizing the data using pivot tables, and then by using

vlookups that linked the common field (contract number).

. Risk Management - Net Damage Ranking Report - Produced a detailed

description of net damages broken down by three levels; displayed all

factors that affected the damages. This report highlighted critical

factors contributing to net damages (thereby pinpointing highest and

lowest quartiles). Created SQL queries to obtain the data. Downloaded

this data into Excel and used pivot tables to summarize to the relevant

level of detail. Designed reports that were distributed to senior

management, performed user acceptance testing with business users, and

once approved they were then distributed to area and regional managers

throughout the organization.

. Data Corrections - Located and subsequently worked with IT in the US and

Europe in order to correct data errors/omissions located in the existing

AS400 reports or claim details. Also updated data definitions as needed

in these reports and in the SQL queries that were used.

. SOX Documentation - Created quarterly documentation for the constantly

changing external audit personnel who were unfamiliar with the business.

Every page was ticked and tied together using bullet points and brief

explanations or calculations when necessary.

. Under Age Twenty-Five Analysis - Examined profitability analysis by

business segment and age band in order to validate lowering the minimum

rental age offered. Used Revenue Management system to obtain revenue

data per transaction day (including ancillary products) by different

business segments for both under age 25 and overall figures. Ran SQL

queries to acquire claim and loss information by rental age which were

downloaded into Excel and summarized using pivot tables. Combined these

with the Revenue Management data, and using interpolated loss development

factors by region, were used to achieve a final exhibit which showed by

age band the estimated future profitability of each age separately from

18-24.

. Hourly Rental Analysis - Created and ran reports through Cognos to get a

listing of rentals that lasted less than one day. Ran SQL queries to

receive the loss and claim detail for all one day rentals. Downloaded

both reports into Excel and combined using pivot tables. These estimates

were shown to senior management to provide projected potential future

losses due to offering hourly rentals to customers. Also analyzed the

main competitor websites and information in order to see the best course

of action.

. Management - Trained and supervised actuarial new hire in every aspect of

the business including programming languages, actuarial software, and

reporting.

. Liaison - Acted as a liaison for claims, accounting, and IT departments,

in addition to being the point person for internal and external auditing

teams in reviewing and analyzing projects and reports.

Chubb Group of Insurance Companies - Actuarial Analyst

06/2000 - 11/2004

. Web Based Rating Plan Tool - Worked with the IT department on

conceptualizing and creating a viable rating plan tool, including quality

assurance/user acceptance testing.

. Completed quarterly loss reserving of numerous property lines for US and

Canadian business.

. Responsible for specialty pricing of D&O, E&O, EPL, Fiduciary, and

Financial Fidelity.

. Involved in many aspects of rating plans, including filing, testing, and

analyzing.
