Responsibilities:
Care, custody, and control of inmate workers in an industrial work place setting. Supervise inmate
workers and other employees in the operations of a high pressure steam boiler plant and high voltage
electric production plant. Complete monthly performance reviews on inmate employees. Operate high
pressure steam boilers, gas fired boilers, gas fired high voltage generators, operate water, oil, chemical, &
other liquid pumps of various size and design, operate a methane gas powered Solar turbine equipped w/
electric generator and heat recovery steam generation. Operate landfill gas, natural gas, methane gas
powered boilers and generators. Operate gas scrubbing / cleaning equipment, low pressure and high
pressure blowers, heat exchanger units, cooling towers, feed water pumps, air compressors, chemical
pumps. Perform maintenance and repairs on boilers, generators, water pumps, gas pumps, heat exchanger
units, intake/exhaust fan units, chemical pumps, and various other equipment used in the operations of the
Power Plant. Operate and maintain all equipment related to the steam and power generation of a gas
powered power plant. Do daily walk through and equipment checks of the plant and log numerous
readings/numbers pertaining to pressures, settings, volumes, kilowatts, megawatts, gallons, flow rates,
chemical pump settings. Test water daily and adjust distribution of chemicals as needed to maintain
proper quality of feed water system. Keep daily log of test results for water testing and action taken w/
chemicals, pumps, and amount of chemicals issued or received. Operate hand tools such as wrenches,
screw drivers, hammers, grinders, drills, wenches, impact drivers, saws, etc. Keep a daily shift log of
equipment status, problems, inventory, materials or parts used, work completed. Complete parts order
request forms providing cost estimates, parts needed, and reason needed and submit for review and order.
Complete work order forms providing calculations of time spent on the job, cost of materials and staff
wages, equipment used, and details of any problems. Maintain inventory logs showing quantity issued or
received along w/ dates and persons issuing and receiving material. Answer phone and work w/ public to
solve problems and issues or relay messages, give tours and explain the operations of the power plant.
Monitor and utilize computers equipped w/ PLC's, SCADA operating systems, Windows operating
system, Microsoft Word, Excel, Email, Power Point. Maintain security in the facility by doing area
searches for contraband or weapons, searching inmates, and doing routine security measures. Operate
metal detectors and do pat downs and searches on inmates. Train and stay current on self-defense tactics
training, first aid, and CPR. Prior to the opening of the gas powered power plant 3 years ago it was a coal
fired plant and I worked there for 3 years prior to the opening of the new plant. Along w/ the duties listed
above the coal plant also required the operation of a coal conveyer, operating equipment such as a front
end loader and skid steer to move coal from storage building to conveyer unit and then into coal bunker.
Operating an ash removal system to store ash in a silo outside of the plant to be hauled away. Work
consists of grounds maintenance of the buildings and surrounding grounds area also such as landscaping,
painting, changing lights, washing buildings & equipment, and routine maintenance. Work involved
operation of push mowers, riding mowers, weed eaters, snow blowers, scissor lift & articulating lift units,
front end loaders, skid steer, back hoe, pickup trucks, welder, gas powered pressure washer, and various
hand tools.
Accomplishments:
Completed and kept current w/ boiler operation training. Completed and kept current w/ first aid and CPR
certification. Maintained supervision of inmates and other staff and kept production of steam and electric
for the facility by utilizing different equipment as needed, working on and repairing equipment as needed,
and problem solving and improvising in times of trouble.

Answer telephone calls for both emergency and non-emergency phone calls. Provide callers w/
instructions for medical assistance until arrival of emergency units. Use computers w/ Interact CAD
(computer aided dispatch) systems to enter information and dispatch Fire, Police, and EMS units. Read
both paper and computer maps and distinguish map legend to provide directions to units, operate 2-way
radios, and send proper units to emergency incidents. Operate the Pennsylvania and nationwide CLEAN /
NCIC computer systems to enter information for police departments such as missing or wanted persons,
stolen items, warrants, operator driver license information, vehicle registration information, criminal
history information, etc. Dispatch proper units for fire alarms, police alarms, medical alarms. Call other
dispatch centers or utility companies such as water, electric, phone, and provide and relay information to
them. Assist w/ the planning of emergency evacuation or procedures for various municipalities within the
jurisdiction of the operations center. Design and complete emergency response alarm cards for fire
departments that provide the dispatcher w/ predetermined units to dispatch for different types of
emergencies. Enter the emergency response alarm cards in the computer system and maintain them w/
any changes or updates as needed. Complete daily shift log providing information for next shift, any
current issues or problems to monitor, review and critique emergency calls from prior shifts, log any
alarms from shift, log persons working on the shift and the position being worked by them such as call
taker, police dispatcher, etc.
Accomplishments:
Kept up to date w/ certifications such as EMD, APCO, CLEAN / NCIC operator, CPR. Remained calm
and made quick lifesaving decisions in a time of confusion and urgency, assisted in delivery of 2 babies
by giving instructions over the phone before emergency help arrived.
Skills Used:
Reading, writing, typing, oral communications via 2-way radio, telephone, and person to person. Map
reading and provide directions. Supervise other dispatchers. Listen to numerous radio channels while
talking on the telephone, typing information while talking on telephone or listening to 2-way radios.

Responsibilities:
Was employed here while still in high school. This was a part time job during school and full time during
summer months and after graduation. Operated both manual and CNC machines. Operated lathes, milling
machines, machining centers, grinders, EDM machine for use in the production of steel molds and dies
and the manufacturing of various steel and metal products for companies ranging in quantity from 1 item
up to hundreds of items of the same kind. Worked on a single project at times and also on production /
assembly line work at other times. Read and work from blue prints and schematics. Work within very
close tolerances at times as small as + or - .0001 of an inch. Used hand tools for precise measuring such
as rulers, calipers, outside micrometers, depth micrometers, dial indicators, combination square. Inspected
parts and performed quality control duties by checking for proper measurements and dimensions, assure
quality and specs are met per blue prints and schematics, and maintain quality control of production and
materials. Operated company vehicle to transport materials to and from the shop to various customer
locations. Operated fork lift, pallet jack, and overhead crane to load and unload materials from and onto
vehicles. Also used the equipment to store product & inventory in warehouse in a neat and efficient
manner and kept track of inventory numbers. Used TIG welder in the repair of broken molds and dies to
weld part before it could be machined again to proper specs. Keep track of and log hours worked on
different jobs and materials used on each job so customer is properly billed. Work within close tolerances
and on tight time frame and work overtime as needed.

Completed Machinist Apprentice course in June 2000 from Somerset County Technology Center
Skills Used:
Advanced Math, blue print and schematics reading, measuring to close tolerances as small as .0001 of an
inch, lifting up to 75lbs by hand and heavier w/ use of crane, good driving and operating of company
