Career Statement
Seeking executive level Operations and/or Quality opportunity in food
manufacturing environment allowing for me to positively influence the
organization and provide dynamic leadership. The opportunity should also
allow for an expansion of my own knowledge and skill sets.
My skills sets include leading cultural change in areas of Safety and

Professional experience
PGP International - An ABF Ingredients Company, Woodland, CA.
2011-Current
Site Manager (Oversight of Flour Milling and Extrusion plant - largest site
and home office for PGPI)
Led the Site team through a cultural shift in Safety utilizing ownership
model and focusing on behavior based safety. Achieved 0 Lost Time Incidents,
0 Reportable and 5 First Aid incidents - down from 1 LTI, 4 Reportable and 21
First Aid incidents for the same period the previous year.
Reduced Total Operational cost by 10% ($1.4M), over a 2.5 year period driven
by cost savings initiatives and volumes. This included an overhead cost
reduction of $800K.
Led the Site team through its first successful ISO14001 accreditation.
Developed tangible and achievable KPI's for monitoring and measuring success
including management through visual tracking to drive operational efficiency.
Reduced non-conformance from 4.5% to 0.5% through root cause analysis,
driving customer specification changes and better collaboration during new
product development and launches.
Managed Food Safety Incident with FDA due with a supplier initiated recall.
Final result was 0 recalls for PGPI. Total exposure was estimated at $30M.
Developed a highly effective cross functional team through new hires,
empowering area ownership, coaching and through cross functional projects.
With leadership from the Engineering team, executed on circa $10M in the past
3 years of Capital Expenditure projects including Safety Projects, Essential
Replacements and Cost Saving projects - resulting in each project being
delivered on time and on budget.
Currently in the process of a complete overhaul of the Preventative
Maintenance Program.

2009-2011
Director of Quality (Oversight of 4 manufacturing sites and 3 contract
manufacturers) - Whey Processing, Nutritional Blending and Packaging, Rice
Milling, Flour Milling/ Blending and Extrusion plus contract manufactures for
agglomeration and spray drying)
Coordinated the decontamination of a Dairy operation and two Soy isolate
manufacturing plants for Salmonella.
Hired a direct report in China as a "boots on the ground" approach for
constant surveillance and support for high Food Safety risk operations.
Coordinated, developed and successfully executed the first "kill step"
validation study for extrusion.
Audited contract manufacture plants and provided plants with technical
support and direction in establishing food safety programs including
Environmental Monitoring Programs, Foreign Material Control programs and
overall support for HACCP programs.
Acted as a technical lead, met with critical customers to achieve customer
alignment for specifications.

2004-2009
Quality Assurance Manager / Quality Assurance Professional
Managing all daily operations of the Quality Assurance Department, including
preparing and maintaining and annualized department budget of over $1.5M,
coordinating customer and external audits, maintaining Quality Systems and
leading company wide Company Improvement Program (CIP) initiatives.
Successfully addressed an extensive food safety challenge at the facility
that saw the implementation of new program and overhaul of several program
including foot traffic control, environmental monitoring program. Took
charge of the sanitation department and drove several capital projects (over
$1.5M).
Updated all finished product labeling as part of requirements of the Food
Allergen Labeling and Consumer Protection Act of 2004. Drove the assessment
of "gluten" in products through ingredient, line, processing testing,
validation and verifications, eventually leading to Gluten Free certification
through the Gluten Free Certification Organization.
Improved the companies AIB scores consecutively over the 3 years for
unannounced audits by a total of 40 points bringing the company well past
superior rating.
Facilitated Federal audits and customer audits from major cereal and snack
manufacturers. Travelled nationally to meet customers to present PGPI's QA
programs and capabilities and to finalize specifications. Initiated vendor
audits as part of the Vendor Approval Program of critical vendors.
As a member of the strategic planning team, contributed to the business
direction of the company during its evaluation and acquisition of a second
site. Currently responsible for the QA aspects of the site and in the process
of bringing the site up to current standards. Continuing in assessment for
the acquisition of a third site.
Communicated with all departments within the company to respond to customer
questions, requests and complaints. Implemented a record keeping and tracking
system to monitor trends. Have strongly sold the idea of preventative action
assessments/implementation to addressing an issue across departments.

Chaired ginger growers meetings including negotiating annual contracts and
pricing during harvest and planting to ensure consistent and quality supply
of ginger.
Established the first commercial organic ginger farm in Fiji as a dedicated
